Overview:

The Lead Senior Project Manager will work directly with the Project Director, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to own and manage all project activities related to the implementation of high-profile DOH initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Proactively leading, managing, coordinating, and reporting on projects and workstreams of varying complexity over the full life cycle of the projects, including defined phases for initiation, requirements, development, testing, deployment, and operations, applying industry standard project management principles.
  • Working alongside program leadership to identify resource needs, assemble and manage cross-functional project teams and lead with minimal guidance.
  • Developing and maintaining detailed plans and schedules to ensure on-time completion of project tasks.
  • Identifying, developing, and maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders along with being able to influence matrixed resources.
  • Monitoring of vendor activities, including procurements, implementation, change management and operational oversight.
  • Developing and managing a communication plan to effectively disseminate project information and status across multiple audiences, including the Medicaid executive leadership, the project team, vendors, and external stakeholders.
  • Facilitating decision making within the project and with leadership.
  • Collaborating with project team members and project stakeholders to ensure project objectives are understood and that roles and responsibilities are well defined.
  • Monitoring and controlling scope, schedule, budget, and resources to meet project objectives and commitments
  • Providing regular status reports highlighting accomplishments, risks and issues to project team and senior management.
  • Proactively identifying and assessing project risks and mitigation strategies along with managing associated mitigation plans with the project stakeholder community.
  • Identifying and persistently pursuing issue resolution with team project members and the project stakeholder community.
  • Facilitating project meetings to clarify business needs and promote decision making. This includes, but is not limited to, preparing agendas in advance of meetings, and preparing meeting minutes and action items.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three (3) projects as the project manager accountable for end-to-end software development lifecycle management.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of successfully leading complex projects/programs with significant executive and stakeholder involvement and visibility.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience implementing projects utilizing industry project management methodologies.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in active management of resource loaded project schedules and resource assignments using Microsoft Project.
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor's or Masters' degree with coursework in Information Technology, Business or Public Administration, Project Management and/or Communications.
  • 50% onsite in Albany, NY

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or Similar Agile Project Management Certification
