ARETUM, a leading government contracting company specializing in technology-enabled mission support services, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lease Accounting Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our team. As a Lease Accounting SME at ARETUM, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and compliant accounting for lease agreements.

Responsibilities

• Provide subject matter expertise on lease accounting standards and regulations, such as ASC 842.
• Position papers as needed to support SFFAS 54 implementation and address audit inquiries
• Working with the contract support requirements established in Task 6.8Federal GAAP Compliance Support, prepare white papers and apply internal control risk assessments as needed to position TSAs SFFAS 54 approach and processes to stand up to audit scrutiny
• Prepare procedures to cover endtoend SFFAS 54 accounting and reporting beginning with the right-touse data extraction and ending with the manual journal entry that is compliant with ISOP5001Manual Journal Entry (JE) Process
• Review and interpret lease agreements to determine appropriate accounting treatment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and validate lease data and ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Perform lease accounting calculations and journal entries.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in lease accounting, preferably in the government contracting industry.
• Strong knowledge of lease accounting standards and regulations, such as ASC 842 or SFFAS 54.
• Experience in reviewing and interpreting lease agreements.
• Advanced knowledge of lease accounting calculations and journal entries.
• Familiarity with lease accounting software and systems.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in financial data analysis and reporting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• CPA certification or equivalent is preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
