This listing is for two positions: one full-time and one part-time Licensed Psychologist.





The Licensed Clinical Psychologist, under direction from the Treatment Director (Director of Mental Health Services), assists physicians and other medical staff with providing integrated behavioral health-primary health care (BH-PHC) services. Under the SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment) model, duties include receipt of a warm hand-off of the patient from the Primary Care Provider (PCP), additional screenings as needed, provisional diagnostic assessment, brief intervention (for stabilization – up to three sessions), and referral for continuing or specialized care as needed. As such, services may include establishment of ongoing psychotherapy services within the medical clinic setting. Other duties may include crisis intervention, case management, quality assurance reviews, and related duties. The Licensed Psychologist performs duties necessary to support medical staff and integrated BH-PHC care for the agency. This is a licensed position (Psychologist) that upholds high standards for the Behavioral Health component of the agency as a whole.







RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:





Typical responsibilities and duties of a Licensed Psychologist include, but are not limited to:





· Recognizes signs of “reasonable suspicion” of child/elder/dependent adult abuse or neglect and makes timely mandated reports, with clinical follow up





· SBIRT: Conducts a brief assessment for behavioral health referrals and ascertains a provisional diagnosis; brief counseling may be required to stabilize the patient (individual, couple, family, other) – typically no more than 3 sessions before a referral for continuing care is indicated; and develops a case management plan, if needed





· Provides crisis intervention/case management services such as providing referrals for medication, higher levels of care, and/or additional services





· If accepting a patient for continuing psychotherapy care, obtains an adjunct informed consent form and conducts a more in-depth diagnostic assessment using current ICD criteria; develops an adjunct treatment plan for mental health/substance abuse treatment for the medical chart; and administers individual psychotherapy sessions (may include significant others, if indicated)





· Participates in mental health client case reviews/Quality Assurance Reviews (QARs), which may include medical and behavioral health staff, as well as participation on formulary meetings and clinic QA/QI meetings when invited





· Uses additional screening instruments as needed





· For Psychologists: Psychological evaluations, which may include the use of psychological test instruments and medication recommendations to PCPs





· Assists with differential diagnosis and provides case consultation as needed





· Documentation and clerical duties, which use of an electronic health record (EHR)





· Maintains an active license with the California Board of Psychology or BBS and attends trainings to maintain and/or improve clinical and cultural competency skills





· May be designated to fill in for the absence of the Director of Social Services/Clinical Director for administrative duties, which may include supervision duties for unlicensed therapists





· Other duties as assigned





MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS





This is a licensed position that requires independent licensure with the Board of Psychology or California State Board of Behavioral Sciences and completion of a 4-hour SBIRT certification course. The SBIRT course will be provided upon hire, if not already completed.





At least three years of sobriety/clean time if in recovery.





Possession of a valid California Driver’s License and has current auto insurance as the position requires travel between clinics.





DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS





Bilingual English/Spanish; other languages are a plus, including sign language.





Three years of professional psychotherapy experience with both mental health and substance-abusing populations.

Must be able to recognize signs and symptoms of a substance use disorder or mental illness. Must be able to utilize word processing software. Must have the physical ability to sit for long periods of time; ability to reach, possess fine manual dexterity, and sensory acuity. Must be able to multi-task in a sometimes stressful environment.
