To provide healthcare and promote wellness for Brazos County Health District (BCHD) clients with the focus on mental health. The Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) may work in any setting that is within the scope of his or her supervising clinicians practice. The supervising clinicians scope of practice shall be defined for the purpose of this section as those tasks and procedures which the supervising physician/nurse practitioner or clinician is qualified by training or possesses expertise to perform. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. - The LCSW works under the direction of the Health Continuum Services Manager and in collaboration with the primary healthcare team providing behavioral healthcare services inclusive of mental health, substance use, and intellectual disabilities.
- The LCSW serves as Brazos County Health District (BCHD)s Behavioral Health (BH) expert.
- Provides/conducts a wide variety of behavioral health screenings (including but not limited to SBIRT/depression, Opioid risk Assessment, etc.) to ascertain if BCHD is the appropriate fit for the individuals current for appropriate fit , assessment, diagnostic, brief interventions, consultative, referral, case management/care coordination and evaluation services.
- The LCSW provides a variety of BH services within their scope of practice, including but not limited to; screening, assessment, diagnoses, evaluation, crisis intervention, brief intervention/treatment, consultations, care coordination/care management, education, referral, closing the loop on referrals, advocacy, and other related outpatient services.
- Provides crisis intervention services and serves as emergency contact for BH issues.
- Provides counseling to individuals, couples, families, teens, and groups to diverse population of clients in an accepting, culturally-aware manner.
- Write treatment plans, document clinical notes and goals, as required by TX LPC or TSBSWE/NASW Code of Ethics.
- Decide on treatment methods and length of treatment, using supportive theories.
- Attending continuing education to keep abreast of current issues, changes, etc (conference, trainings, readings)
- Participate in weekly Huddle meetings, BCHD and non-county outreach programs as the manager deems appropriate.
- In addition, may serve on various committees within and outside of BCHD related to integrated health care issues.
- Make medical diagnoses and initiate referrals of patients to the appropriate health care facilities, agencies, other resources of the community, or other physicians.
- Act as a patient advocate, coordinator, and liaison for BCHD in dealing with the community.
- Supports the team concept of healthcare. Contribute to the timely flow of the BCHD by examining, evaluating and treating its patient population in an efficient, effective and timely fashion.
- Maintain professional and technical competence by staying up to date in all the aspects of behavior/mental health by regular continuing education.
- Inform and consult with the supervising physician (Health Authority) about any problems or discrepancies that might arise.
- Cultivate a climate of trust and compassion with the patients.
- Comply strictly with mental standards of care and safety standards & regulations.
- Complies with policies and procedures delineated in the current Employee Handbook and Personnel Policies of Brazos County, Texas and department supplements.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This is a non-supervisory position. QUALIFICATIONS: Masters in social work accredited by the Council of Social Work Education and current licensure as Licensed Clinical Social Worker with three years of behavioral healthcare experience.Bilingual in Spanish preferred.Must possess a working knowledge of the current Diagnostic and Statistical manual of Mental Disorders (DSM).Proficiency using EHRs systems and other computer programs. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Masters in social work accredited by the Council of Social Work Education and current licensure as Licensed Clinical Social Worker with three years of behavioral healthcare experience or Masters degree in mental health related field, holding a valid license as either a LPC, LPC Intern, LMSW or LCSW.
