Our Utility Department, Wastewater division is currently seeking a

Mechanical Technician 1 or 2 to join their team! Depending on level of experience, candidates may be hired as a Mechanical Technician 1 or Mechanical Technician 2. Under supervision, the purpose of the position is to perform a wide range of moderately complex pump-mechanical and electrical trades work in the maintenance and repair of utilities treatment plants, equipment, peripheral components, and collection systems.

Mechanical Technician 1

Position will repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, pumps, gearboxes and various rotating equipment of all sizes and types; with proper equipment, must be able to test motors for continuity. Must have one (1) year responsible experience in public utilities or other large scale commercial pumping systems, motors and electrical equipment or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is required.

Mechanical Technician II

Employees in this classification function at journey level, and are accountable for installing, maintaining, repairing, and replacing a wide variety of machinery and mechanical equipment, e.g., engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, pumps, gearboxes, and various rotating equipment. Objective is to maintain wastewater system, pump stations, and treatment plant equipment to ensure safe and efficient utility operations. Must have two (2) years responsible experience in public utilities or other large-scale commercial pumping systems, motors and electrical equipment, and the ability to operate heavy equipment and tools of the trade, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Class B CDL Driver's license. All positions require a High School diploma or GED. Must be available for emergency call back and rotating call duty. Prefers candidates with Wastewater exp.
