MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST- IMMEDIATE START

BASIC FUNCTION:

Performs, evaluates and reports routine and STAT laboratory tests on blood, urine, and other body fluids. Tests are performed using various automated and manual methods.

The Medical Technologist hired for the purpose of working on 2^nd and 3^rd shifts must be able to work in the following laboratory departments: Hematology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Serology, Urinalysis, Blood Bank and perform all required test procedures in each department.

The Medical Technologist hired for the purpose of working on the 1^st shift must be able to perform all required test procedures in the department(s) by which he/she has been hired.

The Medical Technologist is responsible for instrument maintenance and troubleshooting, quality control evaluation and problem solving, and quality assurance data collection.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT(S):

Must be licensed as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist by the New York State Education Department.
Baccalaureate or Associate degree in Medical Technology or related science field.
Must meet NYS Department of Health qualifications for Medical Technologist as stated in Public Health Law Part 58.1-1.5.
Previous experience working in a highly automated environment preferred.
Independent, mature, self-motivated, reliable and responsible
Able to serve the needs of patients ages neonatal to geriatric.
Able to deal with all types of customers in a pleasant, professional manner.
Must possess excellent organizational skills and a strong ability to mutltask.

ASCP or equivalent preferred
