Description: JOB TITLE: MACHINE & TOOL MAINTENANCE Location: Racine, WI Pay Rate: $39.31/Hr. Must be a journeyman or have 8 years exp. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Construct new apparatus, equipment, and machine tools. Work from design drawing and specifications. Setup and operate various standard machines such as keyseaters, lathes, mills, shapers, surface grinders etc., to cut, form, and shape parts of regular, symmetrical, eccentric and irregular form and shape. Select tooling, feeds, and speeds to suit variations in material, operating conditions, finish, and tolerance requirements. Assemble, align, fit, adjust, and check component parts of sub-assemblies and units. Obtain match fits of mating parts. Analyze reason for breakdown or mechanical defect in machine tools, hydraulic equipment, etc. Check and examine machine tool, hydraulic equipment, or related parts to be repaired, repair and re-assemble. Perform other related or similar duties as required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Sustained physical effort dismantling and re-assembling machine or units. Exposure to dirt, dust, grease and oil. Stooping, bending, reaching and awkward positions. QUALIFICATIONS Has served a bonafide apprenticeship and has a certificate which substantiates his claim of such service, or has eight (8) or more years of practical experience and can substantiate it with proper proof, or has a UAW journeyman's card, which shall be considered as presumptive proof of qualifications, or has a journeyman's card from any other union which has apprenticeship standards comparable to the UAW. Equivalent knowledge and related or similar experience to construct new machine tools from design drawings and specifications, setup and operate various standard machine tools; produce new, replacement, or repaired parts of regular, symmetrical, eccentric or irregular shape, to exact, close tolerance requirements; assemble, adjust, align, fit, try out finished machine tools, mechanisms, or units; understand principles of mechanics, operation of standard machines, feeds, speeds, cutting characteristics of metals. Use of shop mathematics and precision measuring instruments requiring interpretive reading.
