Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Architect with expertise in Azure cloud technologies to lead the modernization and integration of mainframe systems with cloud-native solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mainframe architecture and a proven track record of successfully architecting and implementing solutions in Azure cloud environments. Responsibilities: Mainframe Modernization Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for modernizing mainframe systems, including assessment, planning, and execution phases. Architecture Design: Design scalable, reliable, and secure architecture solutions that integrate mainframe systems with Azure cloud services, leveraging modernization techniques such as re-platforming, re-hosting, and re-factoring. Cloud Migration: Lead the migration of mainframe workloads and applications to Azure cloud environments, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum efficiency. Hybrid Integration: Architect hybrid integration solutions that seamlessly connect mainframe systems with Azure cloud services, including data integration, messaging, and identity management. Microservices Architecture: Define and implement microservices-based architecture patterns for decomposing monolithic mainframe applications into modular and scalable components deployed on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) or Azure Functions. Data Modernization: Design and implement data modernization strategies for mainframe databases, including migration to Azure SQL Database, Azure Cosmos DB, or other cloud-native data stores. Security and Compliance: Ensure that mainframe modernization efforts adhere to security and compliance standards, implementing robust security controls, encryption mechanisms, and access management policies in Azure. Performance Optimization: Optimize the performance of mainframe workloads running in Azure cloud environments, leveraging Azure services such as Azure VM Scale Sets, Azure Load Balancer, and Azure Application Gateway. Cost Optimization: Implement cost optimization strategies for mainframe modernization projects, analyzing resource utilization, leveraging Azure Reserved Instances, and optimizing cloud spend. Monitoring and Management: Define monitoring and management solutions for mainframe workloads in Azure, implementing logging, monitoring, and alerting mechanisms to ensure operational excellence. Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: Design and implement disaster recovery and business continuity solutions for mainframe applications running in Azure, leveraging Azure Site Recovery, Azure Backup, and other cloud-native services. Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Document mainframe modernization architectures, designs, and best practices. Conduct knowledge sharing sessions and workshops to transfer expertise to internal teams.
