Job Title: Maintenance Technician I

Location: Morristown, NJ

Job Type: Contract

Job Description:

Candidate will perform skilled preventive maintenance and repairs on electrical, mechanical, and general applications with minimal supervision. Candidate will respond to work requests in a timely manner depending on urgency. This includes using judgement skills to determine if a repair is critical to keep production flowing. Candidate will be required to interface with Engineering on specific projects and process improvements. Candidate will assist in managing equipment, and contractors accordingly to minimize downtime and maintain all process lines. Candidate will maintain all equipment maintenance records to GMP audit-ready status. Candidate will be competent in meeting OSHA regulations and Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO) with respect to equipment installation and repair. Candidate will utilize Microsoft Office soft wares to create, update, and improve department forms and create change controls regularly. Candidate must understand and contribute to continual improvement across all departments. The candidate will take on and manage project work as business needs dictate, while maintaining day-to-day cGMP records compliance. Candidate must be able to cultivate and maintain strong internal and external relationships. Candidate will present strong attendance and punctuality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The requirements listed in this job description document are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required, and are as follows:

Support all departments with troubleshooting, diagnostics, and technical expertise to resolve equipment and process issues and failures.

Perform equipment preventive maintenance on schedule to ensure proper operation, audit ready and compliant.

Manage work requests through KACE Systems Management software.

Prioritize work requests through good communication and logic (Common Sense).

Create & revise equipment maintenance forms and checklists as needed.

Execute change controls in compliance with a continual improvement environment.

Maintain a safe clean work area, and maintenance documentation to satisfy ISO and GMP standards.

Execute purchase orders and subsequent purchases.

Assist associates as required when more than two hands are necessary.

Interface with Engineering and equipment manufacturer support teams to troubleshoot and repair process equipment. Maintain strong, reliable relationships to oversee machine safety, reliability, cleanliness, and improvements while ensuring OSHA compliance.

Perform short to medium errand runs for parts and supplies to support equipment repairs, at times with short notice.

Travel between different facility locations to provide support.

Maintain and improve electronic Equipment Manual Database.

Read blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and technical orders to determine method and sequence of assembly.

Able to gather and interpret data to determine root causes and resolve problems.

Proficient in use of all common [powered and otherwise] handheld tools.

Operate mills and lathes or be willing to take training courses on same if unfamiliar.

Able to operate and obtain a license for lifting equipment.

Continually improve work area organization.

Keep excellent communication and working relationships with all departments and effectively function within a team environment.

Verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments. (Caliper, Micrometer, Dial Indicator, etc.).

Perform facility duties as needed.

Qualifications & Competencies

Must be competent in terms of Good Documentation Practices.

Candidate must have strong Electro-Mechanical diagnostic capabilities and be able to identify root causes through use of appropriate diagnostic tools and must be proficient in fault and defect diagnostics and repair.

Knowledge of business continuity (BCP) and PLC logic are strongly desired.

Must deliver assignments and projects on-schedule and on-budget

Education and Experience

Must have High School Diploma or GED and 1-2 years of technical school education or a combination of equivalent education and experience. Must have 1-3 years of maintenance experience in an industrial environment including pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical and simple electrical repairs.

Computer Skills

Must be able to communicate effectively via e-mail when appropriate. Must have good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Database and Help Desk utilization skills are a must.

Certificates and Licenses

OSHA Safety, Electrical-Mechanical (related), and Forklift Operator are highly desired.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and handling equipment. The work environment can contain flammable materials and fumes, airborne particles, high precarious places, and risk of electrical shock. Noise levels are moderate.
