The Manager, Accounting, is responsible for leading and overseeing the day-to-day operations and success of the Music Client Trust Team. From hiring and training, to managing and supporting their performance, assigning and coordinating daily tasks, scheduling, and troubleshooting any issues that may arise.

This role is based in our Chicago, IL, office and is in the office at least 3-4 days per week.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Lead weekly 1:1 with direct reports to provide guidance and feedback.
• Review and approve daily and monthly reconciliations of the incoming and outgoing client trust deposit logs against client trust allocations.
• Review and approve client trust GL journal entries.
• Reconcile the client trust bank accounts daily in the GL and prepare month end bank reconciliation reports.
• Flex into Client Trust Team role and assist with allocating client trust funds and research as needed.
• Assist with review and approving all client trust refunds and reallocations and corresponding journal entries.
• Queue outgoing client trust payments.
• Support Music Accounting team with 1042-S tax form prep.
• Review, document, and update processes and training materials.
• Support ad hoc projects and company initiatives as needed.
• Maintain highest degree of financial confidentiality.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or music business required
• Ability to lead a diverse team, including the coaching and development of direct reports
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) required
• Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting, music business, or client trust experience
• Live music and/or entertainment accounting experience highly preferred
• Workday familiarity a plus
• Well-developed communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to address complex challenges head-on as well as proactively anticipate issues that may arise, quickly determine next steps, and lead team towards nuanced resolutions
• Ability to multi-task and delegate work across the teams in order to prioritize and perform tasks in a timely manner while working in an extremely fast-paced environment
