Reporting to the Senior Director, People & Culture, this role is responsible for semi-monthly payroll processing and benefit administration. This position will perform payroll accounting and administrative duties, to include payroll software maintenance, earning and deduction codes maintenance, retirement plan management and maintenance, payroll processing and auditing, payroll reporting, time off accruals maintenance and audit, garnishments, processing tax form filing and reporting, and general payroll conflict resolution. This position is the point of contact for all employer sponsored benefit programs, offering white-glove service to employees and acting as liaison with our Brokers.


Position Responsibilities

  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of semi-monthly payroll including benefits and taxes compliant with federal and state wage and hour laws.
  • Maintains well documented and well-organized payroll records.
  • Responds to employees questions regarding paychecks, benefits, and W-2 forms in a timely manner.
  • Researches and works with People & Culture and Finance team to correct payroll errors to include balance adjustment, manual check processing for over/under payments and quarterly amendments.
  • Maintains accuracy and integrity of timekeeping system by auditing and correcting issues.
  • Critically reviews and analyzes current payroll practices and procedures in order to recommend and implement positive changes and solutions. Creates and maintains Payroll Practices and Procedures policies.
  • Works with the Manager of People Operations to ensure new hires, terminations, and related employee changes (FLSA status, compensation, FMLA administration, etc.) and action items are processed timely and accurately.
  • Generates reports for monthly, quarterly, and annual dashboards. Prepares various government regulated reports and surveys, including but not limited to compensation, EDD, EEO, etc.
  • Leads the administration of benefits at property level to include maintenance of current enrollment materials, private individual benefit records, HIPPA regulations, bill reconciliation, individual carrier web-site maintenance, and functions as liaison with Plan brokers.
  • Manages and tracks all Leaves of Absence, including DAOU Paid Parental Leave, DAOU Paid Bereavement Leave, FMLA, etc.
  • Maintains 401K administration, including rollovers, end of year filings, and releases annual notices to participants.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • B.S Degree in accounting and/or related field preferred.
  • Three to five years of payroll processing experience, including time and attendance and vacation tracking.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of all Federal, State, and local labor laws.
  • Three to five years of experience in benefits administration with programs such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), COBRA, and leaves of absence.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters; must be able to operate with professionalism and discretion and must possess sound decision-making skills.
  • Proficient in typing, data-entry, and computer use with an emphasis in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint, in addition to a strong aptitude for learning new software quickly.
  • Must be detail-oriented and flexible.

Compensation range for this role is $70,000 - $80,000/yr.
