ROLE SUMMARY:

This position is a key role in supporting the AVP of Operations and the AVP of Creative Services and Marketing in the growth of The Trust Companies with the planning, executing, and implementation of sales and business development activities for the Psychologists Professional Liability Program (PPLP) and the Allied Healthcare Professionals Program (AHP). The primary responsibilities are to identify business opportunities, market solutions to relevant decision makers, maintain existing business and relationships, and win new business. Secondary responsibilities include acting as liaison with insurance carriers and brokers and keeping an eye on trends and opportunities to expand our business and remain competitive.

Position Status: Full-time

FLSA Status: Exempt

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 am 5:00 pm

Location: In-office MondayThursday; Remote on Fridays (unless otherwise noted)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the Allied Healthcare Program and support the PPLP Program
  • Enhance and grow existing programs to generate and grow business through marketing, timely follow up, and understanding of customer needs and requirements
  • Collaborate and ensure that business relationships exist, and assist in closing the deal
  • Analyze competitive conditions, customer needs, and design strategy to capitalize on sales opportunities using a SWOT analysis of competitors, coordinating these efforts with the Director of Underwriting
  • Oversee research on key customer information and utilize contact management software to maintain activity, customer/partners communication, and reports
  • Define and articulate an opportunity and strategy for each targeted account, partnering with AVP of Operations for successful execution and development
  • With direction from the AVP of Creative Services and Marketing, develop and execute marketing plans to ensure attainment of sales goals and profitability that are consistent and supportive of the strategic plan
  • Effectively prospect and engage in the sales process with marketing to increase penetration for AHP and PPLP
  • Ensure tracking of all activities and produce monthly progress/relationship reports and suggest new strategies if needed
  • Create process to capture and track lost prospects for future outreach
  • Liaise with insurance carriers and brokers and operate as primary contact with representatives for Lincoln and Liberty Mutual Auto/HO
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, products, and competitors to support business development opportunities

Requirements

Academic/Licensure Qualifications:

  • BS in Business/Management/Marketing
  • Possess current Maryland Property and Casualty Insurance license
  • Life/Health Insurance license a plus

Experience/Skills:

  • Demonstrable skills in business development, sales, financial planning, marketing, and strategic development
  • Proven record of growing books of business
  • Commercial insurance, underwriting knowledge and experience a plus
  • 2-4 years of experience of account management and/or outside business development/sales
  • Exceptionally strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills
  • Results focused with strong sales orientation and closing skills
  • Good relationship builder; possesses solid interpersonal skills to work with a variety of personality types including executive level contacts. Able to work independently as well as cooperatively in a team
  • Highly motivated and effective communicator with the ability to make the best of interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of CRM software, preferably Sales Force
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Some travel may be required; must be able to stay overnight for meetings as necessary
  • Must be able to remain seated for the majority of the workday
  • Requires ability to perform keyboarding tasks on a consistent basis
