Managing Director Location: US-FL-Tampa Email this job to a friend

Position Summary: Through an understanding of global business, executive education and instructional design, the Managing Director is responsible for driving growth and managing a portfolio of client business. This position also has operational and managerial responsibility for a team of client facing employees within their region.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Owns and manages a client portfolio of business
- Owns overall accountability for portfolio success; Accountable for project success and quality across portfolio of clients
- Drives the commercial performance of client projects
- Leads efforts to grow the business
- Responsible for contributing to regional, organizational and individual revenue and profit targets
- Identifies and develops new business with both existing clients as well as new prospects; contributes to proposal writing process and pitches
- Drives the acquisition of new clients from own network, office and group marketing efforts
- Provides excellent client relationship management (CRM) to key client stakeholders
- Takes the lead in building or deepening relationships with a portfolio of clients
- Handles, resolves and negotiates difficult issues with clients, suppliers and other Duke CE units and teams
- Designs collaboratively with clients, utilizing the full range of Duke CE experience and resources
- Understands client business context and challenges and how those challenges relate to leadership challenges
- Leads a diagnostic dialog with clients, leading to business and learning outcomes; Understands Duke CEs portfolio of offerings and how those offerings related to client, Translates client request into a logical and credible Duke CE design
- Provides project execution excellence in the discovery to delivery (end-to-end) process
- Leverages expertise in platform skills with clients
- Clearly communicates the sessions topic, goal and relevance to the participants ensuring delivery excellence against desired program outcomes
- Reads audience and makes adjustments as necessary to achieve exceptional delivery of content; Encourages audience interaction to improve learning
- Leads and develops a team through targeted work experience, coaching and feedback working to create a productive and satisfying team environment
- Manages assigned direct reports, ensuring regular performance and development activities occur
- Actively looks for opportunities to mentor/advise employees who are not a direct report
- Leverages people and resources to build individual and organizational capabilities in a way that balances delivery excellence with meaningful growth opportunities for team members
- Actively contributes to the management of the business through building of regional capabilities, support of management decisions, ownership of processes or special projects and identification of potential external talent
- Actively collaborates with peers across teams and geographies to share knowledge, support quality execution, contribute to design and solve problems working to develop capabilities across the MD community; contributes frequently to Duke CE thinking
- Acts as an ambassador for Duke CEs philosophy, brand and culture within the office and organizational communities
challenges - Partners with the Global Educator Network to identify, recruit and develop faculty resources
- Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned or required

Education and Experience Requirements: - Bachelors degree (or equivalent) required; advanced degree preferred
- Prior Project and Client Management experience in a human capital development environment
- Experience with instructional design, executive consulting and facilitation skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point
- Domestic and international travel required
