We are seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Associate to support our new Viral Vector biotechnology facility in Oceanside, CA. Under minimal supervision, in this role you will be accountable for and focused on front line manufacturing of viral vectors.


Specific
Responsibilities:

  • Perform manufacturing processes on the floor, following batch records and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure safe and compliant operations
  • Ensure right-the-first-time performance of all process steps specific to the phase or stage of operation, as well as help strengthen the safety-first culture at Kite Oceanside
  • Work as part of a team to implement GMP runs in close collaboration with Process Development, MSAT, Engineering and Quality
  • Assist with weighing of raw materials and electronic inventory transactions utilizing MES and/or Oracle, as well as cell culture and filling unit operations for the manufacture of viral vector products in a cGMP environment using proper aseptic technique, good documentation practices, and sound scientific methods
  • Assist in formulating solutions utilizing single use technology, preparation and autoclaving of single use materials, as well as filter integrity testing
  • As part of a team, process mammalian cell culture in flasks, CellSTACK chambers and single use bioreactor systems, as well as assist with transfection of cells and harvest of viral vectors
  • Operating manual and automated filling equipment to support viral vector filling operations
  • Rigorously adhere to SOPs and cGMP regulations and accurately complete documentation associated with commercial manufacturing
  • Escalate processing and equipment issues as needed
  • Daily review of in-process cGMP documentation for completeness and accuracy
  • Other duties as assigned


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree with 2+ years of experience Or
  • AA Degree with 4+ years of experience in manufacturing, quality or engineering in a biotech/pharma industry Or
  • High School diploma with 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, quality or engineering in a biotech/pharma industry


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in biology or related scientific discipline, or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Prior experience with biopharmaceutical, cell or gene therapy manufacturing is a plus
  • Knowledge of the Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP's) desired
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and data analysis
  • Self-motivated and willing to accept temporary responsibilities outside of initial job description
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to think outside of the box as well as comfortable in a fast-paced and constantly evolving environment
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs repeatedly and stand for hours at time
  • Ability to work effectively in an inclusive, cross-functional, team-based environment
  • Able to work off shift hours and weekend

The salary range for this position is: $76,245.00 - $98,670.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
