Position Summary:

LS&S is looking for an organized, enthusiastic and responsible undergraduate student to support its marketing team. The Marketing Intern will be involved with a variety of marketing initiatives offering the ability to acquire and strengthen marketing skills while gaining knowledge of various marketing strategies and preparation for a fast-paced work environment. This position requires a strong work ethic, desire to learn and flexibility.

Work Hours: Onsite Tuesdays and Thursdays between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM

Office Location: Rockville, Maryland

Job Status: Internship start date will commence following successful completion of a standard background check and end on August 11, 2023. This position is not eligible for benefits.

Pay Rate: $15 per hour, between 12 to 14 hours per week

Your Impact:

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.

  • Assisting with Marketing Campaigns: You will support the planning, execution, and analysis of marketing campaigns. This may involve conducting market research, identifying target audiences, creating marketing materials, and assisting with campaign implementation.
  • Social Media Management: You may be responsible for managing social media platforms, including creating and scheduling posts, engaging with followers, monitoring social media metrics, and suggesting strategies to increase engagement and reach.
  • Market Research: Conducting research on industry trends, competitors, and target audiences is often part of a marketing intern's responsibilities. You may be tasked with gathering data, analyzing market research findings, and preparing reports or presentations to share insights with the team.
  • Data Analysis: You may assist in collecting and analyzing marketing data, such as website analytics, social media metrics, or customer surveys. This involves using tools like Google Analytics or Excel to extract meaningful insights and contribute to data-driven decision-making.
  • Assisting with Events and Promotions: Depending on the organization, you may help organize and coordinate marketing events, such as trade shows, product launches, or promotional campaigns. This could involve logistical planning, coordinating with vendors, and on-site support during the event.
  • Collaboration and Support: You will work closely with the marketing team to provide general support, which may include administrative tasks, organizing marketing materials, coordinating meetings, and maintaining marketing calendars.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications:

An individual should possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed and meet the amount of education, training and/or work experience required.

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited university/college studying to earn a bachelor's degree, preferably in marketing, business, communications, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with basic marketing concepts, principles, and terminology is important. This includes understanding target audience segmentation, marketing channels, branding, and promotional strategies.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong creative and analytical skills; excellent attention to detail.
  • Coachable, hardworking, multi-tasking, collaborative, and positive attitude.
  • Proactive self-starter with the ability to work independently; strong ability to set priorities and solve problems
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for long periods of time and to maintain focus on projects such as computer screens or detailed paperwork.
  • Occasionally lift, push/pull, hold/carry of items weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds such as files, books, and other materials.
