Material Handler/Flex Order Fulfillment

Reports To:Warehouse Supervisor/Lead

Warehouse material handlers are essential for the smooth operation of supply chain and logistics operations. They play a critical role in ensuring that materials and products are stored safely, efficiently, and accurately. managing and handling materials, products, and inventory within a warehouse or distribution center. As needed this position also acts as an Order Fulfillment Specialist, responsible for accurately and efficiently processing customer orders, from order receipt to shipment and in accordance with customer requirements.

Responsibilities and Duties

1. Material Handling: Safely and efficiently handle materials, products, and inventory within the warehouse or distribution center. This includes unloading, receiving, inspecting, sorting, storing, picking, packing, and shipping materials.
2. Equipment Operation: Operate various types of warehouse equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and conveyor systems, to move and transport materials.
3. Inventory Control: Maintain accurate inventory records and monitor stock levels. Conduct periodic cycle counts and report discrepancies to supervisors.
4. Quality Assurance: Inspect incoming and outgoing materials for damage, defects, or discrepancies and report any issues to management.
5. Order Fulfillment: Accurately pick and pack customer or production orders according to specifications, ensuring on-time and error-free order processing.
6. Loading and Unloading: Load and unload trucks and shipping containers, ensuring that materials are properly secured and balanced to prevent damage.
7. Safety and Compliance: Follow all safety protocols, regulations, and guidelines for the safe handling of materials, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
8. Organization: Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the proper labeling and storage of materials and products.
9. Documentation: Complete and maintain records and documentation related to material handling activities, such as receiving reports, shipping manifests, and inventory logs.
10. Communication: Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other departments to ensure effective communication and coordination of warehouse activities.
11. Efficiency: Continuously seek opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce waste in material handling processes.

Requirements

Qualifications

1. Experience: 3 years of warehousing experience as a material handler or order picker.
2. Physical Stamina: The role requires physical fitness and the ability to lift, carry, and move heavy materials and products. Material handlers may spend a significant portion of their workday on their feet.
3. Technical Skills: Intermediate computer skills needed in Microsoft Excel, Word, and email platforms. Demonstration of solid math/reasoning skills, and displays initiative when performing their daily tasks
4. Forklift Certification: 2-4 years forklift driving experience.
5. Attention to Detail: Accurate record-keeping and attention to detail are essential to maintain inventory integrity and ensure error-free order fulfillment.
6. Team Player: The ability to work effectively as part of a team. Motivated and enthusiastic, with a strong ability to prioritize work, communication with colleagues and supervisors is crucial.
7. Time Management: Efficient time management skills to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
8. Safety Awareness: A strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety guidelines and regulations.
9. Adaptability: The ability to adapt to changing work environments and handle varying job duties.
10. High School Diploma or Equivalent
