Position Summary: This position will manage the Plant Logistics & Distribution function to include directing and coordinating employees involved in storage, shipment, and receipt of finished goods, raw materials, stores, and general plant deliveries. This position will manage any temporary work force assigned to BC Logistics that could perform a variety of tasks across the site. This position will be accountable for Warehouse Inventory Management Program. This position will promote a culture of continuous improvement, act on key performance indicators, and ensure customer expectations are meet - both external and internal customers. This position will manage the cost for the function.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Champion Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) culture
Responsible for team training
Responsible to process Cority Events and lead investigations as necessary to resolve safety concerns.
Trained as an MOC Initiator for Logistics Changes.
Responsible to ensure adherence to CTPAT procedures and regulations
Responsible to run the Daily Safety ECS meeting
Warehouse Management, Shipping & Receiving
Schedule and assign work assignments
Adhere to proper storage, shipping & receiving regulations and laws
Oversee material flow from receiving, storage, shipping and within plant areas
Ensure timely and accurate postings of receiving and shipping
Ensure customer requirements and quality standards are met
Inventory Management
Responsible to perform inventory cycle count program, including driving corrective actions with responsible parties
Lead annual physical inventory count for Warehouse areas.
Drive to 100% inventory accuracy in SAP
Logistics & Fleet Management
Schedule and Coordinate with inbound and outbound transportation, carriers
Coordinate transportation fleet inspections and maintenance, including on-site trucks, rail lines, and iso-container & cylinder fleet
Adhere to logistics regulations and laws
People
Manage team of material handlers, receiving handlers, temporary labor, and others as needed to support function.
Promote culture of continuous improvement
Maintain staffing, training and development of workforce.
Integrate with functions within site, including area managers, plant schedulers, plant finance, maintenance, customer service, etc
Processes & Systems
Develop, document procedures
Improve SAP utilization
Follow site Management of Change (MOC) procedure
Lead daily/weekly meetings, take action on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Lead Investigation, Root Cause Analysis
Ensure compliance to audits
Cost Management
Manage distribution cost budget, forecast and control
Work with procurement on vendor relationship and pricing
Identify opportunities to optimize cost
Project Management & Planning
Understand warehouse capacity and proper space planning
Manage changes to plant material flows
Lead continuous improvement projects for the area
Supervisory Responsibility: Yes
Education and Experience
BA/BS in Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related field OR 10 years of Shipping / Warehouse experience in chemical, industrial, manufacturing industry (Required)
Minimum 5 years in chemical, industrial, manufacturing industry
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
In depth knowledge of Safety and Safety mindset
Previous experience in Materials and/or Warehouse Management
Previous experience in Inventory Management, Inventory Control
Strong working Knowledge of SAP
Previous experience in Managing People
Strong Written and Verbal Communication Skills
Ability to interact effectively with multiple functional groups
Results driven, self-starter capable of executing improvement initiatives
