Polaris Tech Charter Elementary School is a new premier school scheduled to open in August 2023, where we will make academic dreams a reality. We seek certified teachers (navigators) who will join an outstanding education team to unleash student potential and cultivate aspirations where students are career-focused, college-ready, and invested in the community.
At Polaris Tech Charter School, the Navigator:
Holds High Expectations for Equitable Outcomes: The teacher will create a rigorous but supportive environment in which all students are held to high academic expectations. The teacher will seek evidence of the achievement of goals to help all students meet expectations. The teacher will move beyond the traditional notion of providing each student with the same learning experience and be willing to apply differentiated instructional strategies.
Embraces Competency-Based Learning: The teacher will recognize that not all students learn at the same pace and differentiate instruction to meet student's diverse needs.
Values All Learners: In seeking to personalize instruction, the teacher will recognize all students bring different strengths and needs to the classroom. The teacher is aware of different learning preferences, diversity, and universal design principles and appropriately differentiates and adapts to meet the academic, social, and emotional individual needs of each student.
Has a Growth Mindset: Teachers will constantly enhance their skill sets through professional development opportunities. Teachers will apply the same mindset to students by encouraging them to take risks and learn from their successes and failures.
Essential Job Functions:
- Uses assessment tools to plan instruction
- Observes and evaluates students' performance and development while providing feedback to encourage student growth
- Maintains daily records of each student receiving services
- Uses research-based math intervention strategies to support students
- Consults frequently with the classroom teachers
- Collaborates with the math coach
- Provides support to students who need tier 2 and tier 3 services
- Implements interventions and writes lesson plans detailing methods and materials that will contribute to students' growth
- Assists in the evaluation of ongoing programs and makes recommendations for change
- Assists teachers and administrators in implementing the school math program
- Helps teachers diagnose math strengths and weaknesses and match these skills with appropriate techniques and materials
- Keeps parents informed regarding students' progress in the intervention program
Requirements
- Must have a valid South Carolina Teaching Certificate
- Days Per Year: 190
- References from current and former supervisors
- Satisfactory SLED (SC Law Enforcement Division) Check
