Our client company is seeking a Mechanical Commissioning Lead for commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting of equipment used in various parts of the lubricant plant for their biodiesel facility near Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
This role will be responsible for the mechanical commissioning of equipment, and provides support to plan, schedule and execute full life cycle commissioning of critical facilities.
Duties & Responsibilities
Participates in the MEP design review process and in functional testing of complex mechanical systems.
Collaborates with design engineers, construction contractors, equipment vendors and client staff to test, validate and make operational newly installed and operational mechanical systems including those in critical facilities.
Performs on-site inspection, validation, testing and verification of mechanical equipment.
Develops testing plans and procedures.
Reviews construction related design documents, drawings, and specifications.
Prepares project progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Assists in preparation and contributes to final commissioning report.
Requirements
Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent combination of post-secondary technical education and related work experience.
8+ years of engineering experience in mechanical building systems. Refinery or chemical operations experience is helpful.
Previous startup and commissioning experience for manufacturing/refining/chemical sites is preferred.
Should have at least three years experience with installation, hands-on testing, validation and troubleshooting of mechanical and controls infrastructure.
Accountabilities
Has clear visibility of sequencing of systems needed to commission for Manufacturing/Operations/Facilities to startup and manufacturing to initiate production.
Leads and is accountable for the commissioning mechanical team and develops the commissioning mechanical management structure. Establishes and implements project commissioning mechanical plan.
Integrates project, commissioning, and clients (Manufacturing/Operations/Facilities) requirements.
Ability to communicate effectively directly with clients and times serve as primary point of contact.
Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently with moderate supervision.
Ability to work under pressure and meet close deadlines.
Demonstrated organization skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Demonstrates keen safety awareness and advocacy; multi-discipline technical team leadership, planning and coordination of work within a simultaneous operations environment, having technical expertise relevant to design and operation of assigned systems and liaising with equipment engineers, equipment vendors, construction personnel and operations team members.
This role will be working with Orion Plant Services at client location. Expected duration of assignment will be from January 2024 through June 2024, with the potential of an extension.
Preferred candidates will have a history of successful work experience and job assignments at refinery or chemical operating units.
