Mechanical Design Engineer (Japanese-English bilingual)

Location: Peachtree, GA

General Position Summary

This position is responsible for researching, developing, and examining mechanical components, equipment, and systems by applying principles of mechanical engineering for electronic device design.

Essential Job Functions

Mechanical Design

  • Obtains new production plans, specifications, and schedules.
  • Based on the information obtained, creates 3D data by using CAD.
  • Analyzes the created 3D data by using CAE.
  • Communicates with the design engineers and other departments for issues on new products.
  • Comprehends design results and communicates the result to the clients.
  • Communicates with the prototype supplier for the creation of prototype parts.
  • Plans and conducts validation tests of parts.

Modifies drawings in accordance with the tests, analysis, and supplier/customer requests.

  • Develops design reports that include what are changed and issues.
  • Maintains all documentation for quality improvement.
  • Finalizes drawings with specifications for mass production of parts.
  • Communicates with the tooling suppliers for the creation of mass production of parts.
  • Identifies problems by collecting, summarizing, and interpreting the data result.
  • Coordinates meetings with clients to discuss technical issues.
  • Observes production lines before starting mass production
  • Assists mass production process by analyzing and testing issues.

Other & Miscellaneous

  • Attends meetings.
  • Document translation from English to Japanese and/or vice versa as needed.
  • Seeks constant improvement, more efficient and less expensive ways and means in work processes.
  • Performs special projects and other miscellaneous duties as assigned by supervisors
  • Maintains high ethical standards in the workplace.
  • Reports all irregular issues and problems to supervisors for solutions.
  • Maintains good communication with supervisors, office staff members, and outside contacts.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working area.

Qualifications

Education & Work Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Tools & Equipment

  • General office equipment including phones, fax, copier personal computer, etc.
  • Software includes the use of Windows operating system and MS Office.
  • CAD (CATIA/Unigraphics/I-Deas), CAE (ANASYS/ICEPAC/LIGHT-TOOLS).
  • Mechanical and testing tools.
