As a senior mechanical engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical and electronic packaging solutions that meet customer requirements. You will work closely with your team to research and test various manufacturing and assembly methods and materials, ensuring that the end product meets the highest quality standards. Additionally, you will mentor and support junior members of staff, and contribute to the organization's overall success as a team.

Responsibilities Developing mechanical and electromechanical products by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials; and soliciting input from team members. Developing manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components; and confirmation of those processes. Assuring quality by developing evaluation criteria and designing testing methods; testing finished product and system capabilities.

Evaluating mechanical and electromechanical systems by designing and conducting research; applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, materials, and associated processes; developing new techniques to improve the deliverable product. Assist the Documentation team to prepare technical documents, developing process diagrams, and assisting in the photo-documentation of assembly and packaging efforts.

Archive mechanical/packaging design data in an established configuration control system. Keep tools and equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following the manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special services (e.g., calibration). Maintain technical knowledge through professional education; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Design tools such as Solid Work, PDM, FlowSim, and CNC/CAM tools

To be successful in this role, you should be familiar with machine shop equipment, machining techniques, and manufacturing processes. You should also be able to design tools such as Solid Work, PDM, FlowSim, and CNC/CAM tools, and have a TS/SCI w/Poly qualification.
