Were looking for someone passionate about media and able to keep pace with the always-changing media landscape. This position manages the placement of broadcast television, radio, print, out-of-home, and outdoor with the potential to manage streaming video and audio. A successful buyer will be a key collaborator and leader with the Associate Media Director and client teams representing all things traditional media and able to speak to video and audio as a whole. Modern media blends traditional and digital platforms so this position must comprehend both. You represent the Drake Cooper brand with media vendors and the agency values with your expertise in media buying. This person will advocate for traditional media to the agency and assist the AMD in channel points-of-view, researching future placements, and staying up-to-date on industry trends. This includes training, vendor meetings, client planning, and occasional client presentations.


What youll do:

  • Execute media buys for clients as directed by AMD and media plans.
  • Evaluate and proactively research community sponsorship opportunities and brand-related partnerships.
  • Partner with Associate Media Director and media planners on budget, timing, placements, and creative opportunities for respective channels.
  • Becoming an expert at your media channels. This also means attending media status calls, providing recaps, contributing to client brainstorms, and assisting with planning.
  • Request and enforce receipt of appropriate proof of performance (via affidavits, screenshots, outdoor POP, etc.)
  • Represent assigned media in placement strategies and creative best practices for respective channels. At times, this means working with the creative team on asset deliverables.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with media vendors that include the ability to take meetings to review annual rates and new opportunities. Ongoing relationships are a large part of this job.
  • Occasionally educate the media team and/or agency on traditional media and industry trends.
  • Manage rates and avails, insertion orders, revisions, traffic, and production deadlines. Budgets must be correct and monitored.
  • Reconcile your buys with the Drake Cooper Finance Department. If you are on vacation or out of the office, you must coordinate with AMD to provide backup
  • Stay up-to-date on Strata training and certifications. Become a wizard at SBMS!


Who you are:

  • Must have previous experience buying traditional media for clients and familiar with managing and adjusting buys throughout annual media calendars
  • Digital media experience is a plus though not required
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Excellent communication skills are crucial, you must be adept and willing to work across email, Slack (instant messaging), text, phone, and in-person conversations
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet programs. Prior experience in ClickUp, Airtable, SBMS/ Strata, and Slack is a plus
  • Able to work independently but willing to train, collaborate and work with client and internal teams
  • Strong financial skill set and experience with budget monitoring
  • Must have experience with media buying, GRP goals, CPP goals, and rating books
  • You must be flexible as the media world changes often and day-to-day priorities can change quickly
