Medicine for Business and Industry (MBI) is seeking an experienced Collections Specialist to join our team! MBI is a specialized medical provider that treats work-related injuries and provides occupational health services for employees of our business clients. We have eight welcoming walk-in clinics in Northern Colorado, the Denver Metro area and Colorado Springs with medical providers who are ready to treat employees with an on-the-job injury or illness. This is a full-time position that will be regularly scheduled to work Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm at our Medical Center located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The starting pay range for this role is $18.00 - $22.00/hr, DOE.

**Note: This is an onsite, in-person position.**
You will handle billing and collections, claim denials, patient accounts, and various administrative duties. All debt-related matters will be under your purview, and you will communicate regularly with insurance carriers and patients to pursue payments.
- Possesses CURRENT experience with medical claims appeals
- Responsible for billable claim determinations, corrections, and submissions
- Facilitates and ensures accurate and timely billing of services and fees to clients, resolving discrepancies, and recording these transactions
- Collect, post, and manage patient account payments
- Uses coded data to produce and submit claims to insurance companies
- Responsible account resolution on outstanding accounts receivable for treatment claims
- Works claims appeals, denials and zero pay
- Works primarily with workers compensation insurance and some individual payors, Third Party Administrators and labs
- Makes payment arrangements and collects on past due accounts, liaising with collection agencies, medical facilities and courts
- Provides customer support to patients and insurance companies via phone or electronic communications
Work Hours: Business hours are 8am - 5pm, Monday - Friday. Hours are dependent on business needs.
Requirements
Education, Skills & Qualifications
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of EOBs/EORs
- Experience in a healthcare billing position
- Worked vendor to vendor payments
- Have a full understanding of the Revenue Cycle
- Working with Adjusters for reconciling Claims
- Able to produce a Working timeline
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Proficient computer skills, computer software and all other office equipment
- Strong organizational skills and ability to develop solid working relationships with colleagues
- Ability to multi-task and work with constantly changing circumstances and priorities
- Must have a strong work ethic
