Hours: 30-60 day assignment; Monday through Friday 8:00 am-4:30 pm

Location: Flint, MI

Pay: $13/hr





THE JOB:  Provides assistance to the Physician Services/Medical Staff Office, including handling sensitive reports, files and matters of a highly confidential nature requiring utmost discretion and tact in guarding confidentiality. Manages physician databases, with a principal emphasis on assisting in the maintenance of medical staff records for licensure and accreditation requirements, participating in quality assessment and continuous quality improvement activities. Assists in the development and  distribution of regular physician communications. Performs all job duties and responsibilities in a courteous and customer-focused manner.





RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:  



1.    Maintains hospital physician databases, such as call center, medical staff credentialing, customer service management program, Continuing Medical Education (CME), physician loyalty, admissions information, physician statistics, etc. 



2.    Promotes physician relations through prompt, courteous, and professional interaction with physicians and their office staffs.



3.    Assists with the maintenance of up-to-date medical staff roster, departmental/specialty lists, alternate (back-up) physicians’ list, clinical privileges lists, and such other lists as may be needed within Physician Services/Medical Staff Office.  



4.    Assists with the maintenance of retrievable aggregated database of all medical staff members’ state licenses, federal licenses, insurance, board certification, and other pertinent demographic information.  



5.    Assists with processing applications for medical staff membership/clinical privileges.  Requests appropriate information.  Reviews information provided.  Maintains appropriate records. 



6.    Assists with processing applications for reappointment for medical staff membership/clinical privileges.  Requests appropriate information.  Reviews/verifies information provided.  Maintains appropriate records.  



7.    Assists with preparation of meeting materials, planning of monthly and semi-annual meetings.  Attends meetings as needed.  



8.    Takes minutes of meetings and provides clerical/administrative support of meetings and functions, as necessary and requested.  



9.    Assists with the maintenance of appropriate files and confidential records of medical staff. 



10.    Provides comprehensive administrative support to Medical Staff Coordinator and Physician Services/Medical Staff Office. 



11.    Works on special projects as assigned.



12.    Performs all other related duties as assigned.  Utilizes new improvements and/or technologies that relate to job assignment.



13.    Ability to make decisions independently in accordance with Medical Center/Departmental policies and procedures. 



MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:




  • Bachelor’s degree in Business/Healthcare Administration, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Information Systems or related field. 

  • Experience in physician services, medical staff, and/or physician database management. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent knowledge and experience in the use of personal computers, database management, reporting, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience in customer service manager database a plus.

  • Ability to express ideas concisely, cogently, and logically in both written and oral formats.  

  • Ability to make decisions independently in accordance with Medical Center/Departmental policies and procedures. 

  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, physicians, patients and the public tactfully and courteously.
