HCA Solutions is seeking qualified full-time Medical Technologists for the Federal Correctional Complex (FCC) Butner, in Butner, North Carolina!
This is a contracted, W-2 position for long-term placement.

Clinical Laboratory Testing Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist

Medical Technologist shall provide professional clinical laboratory testing services to inmates.
Medical Technologist will function as a generalist performing testing in all disciplines of the clinical laboratory including hematology, transfusion services, coagulation, urinalysis, infectious disease, serology, and chemistry.
The nature of the work demands an advanced thorough knowledge of clinical laboratory sciences as they relate to the performance of laboratory analysis on human blood, tissues, and body fluids.
A specialized knowledge of clinical correlation which relates laboratory test data to human physiology, a broad knowledge of laboratory testing methodologies, laboratory equipment/instrumentation maintenance and quality assurance procedures is required.

Experience in performing external proficiency testing programs to maintain accreditation of the laboratory.
Experience in conducting quality control procedures on equipment, reagents, and products by implementing instrument, reagent, and product testing systems.

Medical Technologist shall be responsible for, but not limited to the following tasks:
Ordering laboratory studies in the Laboratory Information System, drawing blood samples on ordered studies, preparing samples for processing, sharps accountability, maintaining logs and records, filling out appropriate laboratory request forms, preparation of the call out (draw list and labels), maintenance of a waiting list, restocking supplies as needed, daily maintenance of laboratory equipment, including advising the Laboratory Supervisor when equipment requires professional maintenance or repair, biological specimen preparation and packaging for shipment to contract laboratories, processing incoming referral specimens, processing outgoing specimen containers to referral facilities, maintenance of laboratory logs and other records as necessary for complying with Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA) guidelines, informing the Laboratory Supervisor of all information pertaining to the services rendered, i.e., specimen(s) obtained, and reporting any problems arising in regards to laboratory services. Normally, the duties of the contractor would not require direct entries in the inmate's medical record. However, some information generated by the contactor may be included in the inmate's medical record. The contractor is responsible for providing technical and clerical support to the laboratory.

Requirements for position:
A specialized knowledge of clinical correlation which relates laboratory test data to human physiology, a broad knowledge of laboratory testing methodologies, laboratory equipment/instrumentation maintenance and quality assurance procedures is required.
Must provide documentary evidence of completion of a clinical laboratory training program.
Must provide documentary evidence of completion of clinical laboratory certification exam.
Must provide documentary evidence of experience within the past three (3) years in preforming clinical laboratory testing on human specimens.
Must have the ability to work with inmates. The contractors will work with an inmate population from a variety of cultural, regional, racial, religious, and ethnic backgrounds. Experience working with an inmate population preferred, but not required.
Must have a CPR Certificate
Must provide initial and annual evidence of Flu vaccination.
Must provide initial and annual evidence of Tuberculosis skin testing. If positive, initial, and annual proof of a negative chest x-ray.
Must provide evidence of Hepatitis B vaccination.
