The role: Motor Claims Handler - Glasgow


We have a great opportunity for an experienced Motor Claims Handler to join our Claims Team in Glasgow.

The main focus of this role is to proactively manage a mixed portfolio of motor claims including own damage, third party damage and, personal injury claims for Corporate Clients ensuring service delivery is in line with client expectations.

The job holder will be expected to conclude matters in an efficient and professional manner whilst ensuring all parties are kept fully appraised throughout the claims process. The ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders is essential. The roles would suit experienced Commercial Claims Handlers looking for a new challenge as well as claims handlers from a Paralegal, Loss Adjusting or Personal lines background looking for a more focused commercial opportunity to develop their skills further.

There is an expectation to be in the office 3 days per week on average, with flexibility to work remotely 2 days per week.

We will rely on you to:

Proactive Management of an allocated caseload.
Ensure all Client requests and queries are dealt with promptly and accurately.
Review and understand incoming documentation and new claims notifications under supervision of more senior colleagues, informs colleagues of any potential problems or contentious claims, and seeks guidance or advice where necessary to ensure the proper processing of claims.
Identify which policies or parts of the coverage that may be effected by incoming claims from middle-market clients, seeks validation where necessary, and advice where uncertain or clarification required to ensure the proper protocol is followed.
Determine coverage for incoming claims through use of their knowledge of the policies.
Escalate complex issues pertaining to claims complications and the necessity for technical knowledge to senior colleagues and to claims advocates in order to ensure proper application of pertinent claims policy and calculation of claims rates.
Liaise with advocates and/or clients to ensure the proper processing of specific claims-related issues, or client service concerns.
Communicate with clients, beneficiaries, third parties or insurers to receive status updates, common information requests, instructions or query resolution.
Generate, validate and distribute claims reports, to ensure accurate records are produced and distributed.
Facilitate collection from insurers on small claims and tracks the different parts of claims being paid for common claims settlements in order to keep orderly record of ongoing work


What you need to have:

Demonstrable claims handling experience
Effective communication & negotiation skills.
Insurance industry experience
Understanding of insurance products.
Ability to influence and build relationships.
Ability to prioritise and organise own workload
