Position Summary: The Multi-Unit Operations Manager is responsible for the overall operations of all Wow Bao corporate stores. In this role, you will work with management teams in setting the direction of the business in day-to-day operations as well as a plan to grow the business, drive sales, and meet financial goals. In this hands-on role, you will be working side-by-side in all job functions outlined in the Unit Manager, Shift Supervisor, and Crew Member job descriptions and are ready to assume other assigned duties as necessary. We deeply care about our team and the Multi-Unit Operations Manager must be able to lead and develop people.

This role is based in Chicago and reports directly to the Vice President of Culinary. This position will be responsible for the current 3 corporate store locations, catering and special events.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Other duties will be assigned as needed)

  • Directly manage a team of store managers to meet profitability and operational performance goals and grow sales.
  • Engage and collaborate with Field Operations Management team, Store Managers and Home Office management to identify and drive improvements.
  • Perform opening, pre-shift, during shift and post-shift checklists, including weekly inventories, and costing of all menu items.
  • Lead, create, and roll-out new menu items to help drive food quality, manage food cost, and value.
  • Lead and drive initiatives to improve hospitality and service.
  • Lead weekly operation meetings.
  • Manage standard operational and procedural activities for each unit ensuring compliance with standards in the areas of quality, guest service, food cost, labor hours and costs, safety (OSHA), security, cleanliness, product preparation and employee relations and administration. Identifies problem areas and lead the team to execute and drive performance improvements.
  • Select, hire, train, develop, and retain Managers while identifying key employees for growth.
  • Lead Managers in planning, coordinating and implementing marketing activities in the local community to promote the brand and grow sales.
  • Conduct bi-annual performance reviews of all Managers as assigned by management.
  • Comprehend and adhere to all sanitation guidelines as prescribed by federal, state, and local regulations
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to act under pressure with professionalism and decisive authority
  • Work with Managers to monitor, address and document individual hourly employee performance through on-going feedback, positive recognition, formal performance reviews, coaching and, when necessary, disciplinary action up to and including employment termination.
  • Work with Managers to monitor and ensure the restaurant and the teams compliance with all Company and restaurant policies and procedures as well as all legal and regulatory requirements (including but not limited to safety and sanitation regulations) and represent the restaurant and Company in interactions with legal and regulatory authorities.
  • Ensure repair and maintenance needs are addressed.
  • Assist with virtual training and on-site training as needed for the Dark Kitchen program and other non-traditional programs.
  • Assist with training at airport locations as needed, which may require some travel.
  • Assist operations team with other special events (Lollapalooza, CPT tastings, steam shows and other events).
  • Safely and effectively use and operate all necessary tools, utensils, equipment and software (for example, restaurant management software, etc).
  • Perform calmly and effectively in busy and fast-paced work environment.
  • Local travel from store to store is required for this position (Watertower Mall, Clark and Diversey, and State/Lake St locations).
  • Other duties will be assigned as needed.
  • Follow all rules, policies, procedures and conditions of employment, including those outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Be able to work a variety of hours, days and shifts, including weekends and increased work schedules.

Required Experience/Skills:

  • At least three years of experience as a Operations Manager or Multi-Unit Manager or similar relevant position required with full P&L responsibility.
  • Proven track record and success managing multiple locations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Must possess and maintain a current, valid Drivers License.
  • Excellent reading, writing, proofreading, and oral proficiency of the English language.
  • Partake in a professional and positive work environment.

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Moving safely through all areas of the restaurant, which may include stairs and uneven or slick surfaces
  • Working in confined spaces of varying noise and temperature levels
  • Lifting and moving up to 10 pounds, frequently up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
