This is a 2 years contract position at our Direct Client in Ridgefield, CT. NOTE: This is an onsite role. Client follows all CDC recommendations for a safe workplace. Pay Rate: $55/hr on W2 without benefits Contract Length: 2 Years Description: As a chemist, you will perform NMR experiments, assign NMR spectra, use HPLC to isolate/purify small molecules and perform in-silico prediction calculations to enable structure elucidation of challenging molecules with a high level of accuracy. You will actively contribute to the discovery, development and delivery of our Clients products to their patients and customers. Duties: - Prepare NMR samples and acquire 1D and 2D multinuclear NMR data.
- Assign chemical shifts and interpret NMR data to solve chemical structures.
- Utilize predictive tools to assist in structure elucidation of regioisomers, stereoisomers, tautomers, etc.
- Use HPLC to isolate / purify compounds for NMR analysis.
- Conduct searches of literature and internal databases to assist in structure elucidation.
- Plan and perform experiments providing quality data with minimal supervision.
- Remain current with relevant scientific literature and apply knowledge to the design, modification and implementation of experiments.
- Follow protocols, prepare clear technical reports and provide scientific interpretation of results with minimal guidance.
Requirements: - Experience in the acquisition and interpretation of multinuclear NMR data is required.
- Familiarity with basic NMR instrument troubleshooting is a plus.
- Knowledge of structure elucidation using high-resolution NMR spectroscopy is required.
- Experience with HPLC isolation of compounds for structural evaluation.
- Basic knowledge of structural organic chemistry including inter-atomic distances, hydrogen bonding, torsion angle strain, hydrophobic and hydrophilic interactions is desired.
- Knowledgeable in the routine use of chemical drawing programs.
- Experience with molecular modeling programs and conducting conformational searches is a plus.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; highly organized and efficient record keeping.
- Experience collaborating with diverse teams and demonstrated ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
Education: - MS degree with 5 years experience or recently granted Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or equivalent.
