The Infection Preventionist is responsible for the development and coordination of an effective hospital-wide program for surveillance, prevention, and control of infection. This individual assures on-going review and analysis of hospital-acquired infections, data, risk factors, and special studies; and monitors and controls infections hospital-wide. Required: Current NYS RN License, Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing or Healthcare; minimum of 3 to 5 years of previous health care experience Preferred: Experience working in a role associated with Infection Prevention; Master's degree in Nursing, CICEducation/Certification: Required: Associate's in Applied Science or diploma program in Nursing. Preferred: Bachelor of Science in nursing Required: Current RN license in New York State Preferred: Board Certified in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) Work Experience: Required: 3-5 years' experience working in acute care Preferred: Work experience related to Infection Prevention activities. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities/ Essential Job Functions: Strong analytic, data management and computer skills. Knowledge of best practice as it relates to Infection Prevention management. Excellent interpersonal communication skills with multi-disciplines, medical staff and peers. Ability to manage multiple priorities. Ability to work independently without direct supervision. Ability to provide education related to Infection Prevention to licensed and non-licensed staff. Must hold a valid Driver's License and have a driving record in Good Standing. CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Physical:o Able to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.o Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.o Occasional stooping, bending, reaching, lifting and pushing up to 20 pounds. o Close visual acuity, read charts, analyze and prepare data, transcribing, viewing a computer screen, dials, equipment settings, literature and other printed or handwritten materials. o Work with equipment and manipulate equipment settings, computer keyboard, etc. Environmental: o OSHA Category II: Some risk of exposure to blood/body fluids in the day to day job duties.o Regular and on-time attendance. o Hours may exceed 40 hours per week.o Office environments. o Individual may be required to work non-standard shifts as needed (weekend, evenings, swing shift, or some combination).o Occasional travel by conventional means to other locations as required. o Incumbent may perform work virtually, as pre-approved or directed by leadership.
