The Automated Digital Network System (ADNS) is an Acquisition Category II spiral development program that incorporates and adapts a variety of Commercial-Off-the-Shelf (COTS) and Government-Off-the-Shelf hardware and software. ADNS is the Tactical Internet Protocol (IP) Routing and Switching system for all Wide Area Network IP Services which connect afloat units to the various global shore sites. It provides ship and shore IP connectivity and promotes the efficient use of available satellite and line of site communications bandwidth. SOLUTE, a Sigma Defense Company is seeking a self-directed and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Technical Writer to help engage in converging all voice, video, data communications between ship and shore. The primary duties and responsibilities for this position, minimum required skills, and additional requested qualifications and experience are listed below.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 - 4 years of experience in Government Technical Writing, editing, or industry-based documentation.
  • A minimum of 2 - 4 years of experience in producing high quality Documentation that adhere to Government requirements or processes.
  • At least 2 - 4 years of experience with Government Off the Shelf and/or Commercial Off the Shelf hardware.
  • Ability to obtain CompTIA Security+ and/or CCNA.
  • Ability to work independently with little to no supervision on assigned tasks.
  • Effective communication and writing skills.
  • Effective Testing and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks or projects.
  • Excellent ability to create high quality documentation.
  • Excellent ability to create technical test documents, user manuals and technical Installation guides.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize tasks to ensure optimum productivity.
  • Ability to conduct research on Cisco or other related Network hardware components.
  • Ability to conduct testing and regression testing on Government facilities.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing, with managers, supervisor, peers, and customers.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, independently, and to take initiative.
  • Ability to quickly grasp and implement technical concepts.

Essential Job Duties (not all-inclusive):

  • Individual to be responsible for creating high quality documentation that helps users understand complex technical concepts or procedures.
  • Individual to work closely with engineering team, developers, and other Technical or Programmatic Leads to produce clear and concise documentation.
  • Individual to have ability to edit and or produce user manuals, installation guides, and technical specifications.
  • Individual would be responsible for the preparation, reviewing, revision and sustainment of technical ADNS documentation including software, systems and network engineering related.
  • Individual familiar with Government System Operational Verification and Testing procedures.
  • Individual to assist with development and modernization of Government systems, sub-systems and components through engineering integrations.
  • Individual to assist with development and modernization of Government Networks via Software defined capability or similar engineering integrations.
  • Individual to support improvement of WAN/LAN posture be leading Architecture research and design in support of current and future Naval requirements.
  • Individual shall provide engineering change support to the In-Service Engineering Activity team via on-site services on equipment/systems to perform Cisco based troubleshooting, identification of root cause and correction of other system specific faults and failures.
  • Individual shall participate in numerous Network integration and testing support events within Government test facilities in support of system interoperability.
  • Liaison with local lab managers and system administrators on the installation of the RDT&E network to include hardware purchase, baseline configuration, local system administration responsibilities and duties to maintain system compliance.
  • Liaison with local and Chief Engineers on testing and integration plans via Naval Fleet requirements.
  • Ability to work well with other Engineering focus groups and personnel ranging from Junior to Chief Network, Systems, or Cyber Engineers.

Personnel Clearance Level:

  • Candidate must possess an active, DoD issued Secret security clearance or have the ability to obtain a Secret clearance. A clearance will be sponsored for the right candidate.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in the following disciplines: English, Journalism, Communications, or related field of study.

Certifications:

  • English, Communications from an accredited college or university is preferred.

Software/Programs Experience:

  • NMCI, RDT&E, JIRA, Confluence, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe Acrobat Subject Matter Expert.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000 annually.
