The Night Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the retail food operations during evening and late-night hours at Middlebury College. This position ensures that all food service areas are properly staffed, well-maintained, and provide exceptional customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

This is considered a full-time, hourly, benefits eligible position. The hiring range for the position is $22.10 - $27.65 per hour.

Some of the hours worked could also qualify for hourly shift differential rates

Hours worked between 6 p.m. and 12 a.m: an additional $1.50/hr

Hours worked between 12 a.m. and 7 a.m: an additional $3.00/hr

Requirements

Core Responsibilities

• Supervise as an administrator to oversee all on campus operations of RFO Locations during PM hours: Grille, Midd Express, Crossroads and Concession stands when applicable. Proficient in all RFO procedures and policies. Always enforces those doctrines with staff
• Supply ample coverage for the other Retail Managers if absent. Proficiently exceptional attendance and schedule adhesion required.
• Submit all HR related issues to Asst. Director
• Ensure DLC laws and regulations are enforced at all time
• Ensure cash collection and entry is through and complete on every shift for every unit. Does Deposits and cash handling at night.
• Proficient in POS and BOH software and hardware. Must be able to troubleshoot independently.
• Ensure the highest standards in all kitchen, BOH and FOH procedures, observe proper food storage and handling procedures ordering, receiving, Inventory, fill out temp and time sheets, follow cleaning checklists. Following VT safety and sanitary standards every shift.
• Will not let staff leave a shift unless all cleaning work areas, including counters, floors, dishes, and related equipment and ensures they are in proper sanitary condition. Leads staff and lead cook supervisor in tasks.
• Lock and secure; safe, office, units and building before ending shift.
• Works with assistant Director to optimize budget performance.
• Any duty that may be assigned by the Assistant Director or Manager of RFO

Position Prerequisites:

• Be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent and experience working in management for grocery, restaurant, or related field; or an acceptable combination of education and experience. POS and managerial experience preferred. some college or culinary education preferred.
• Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from Directors of dining with effective time management skills
• Have good communication skills; and the ability to follow instructions and procedures and participate in a team environment.
• Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness.
• Knowledge of proper operation, maintenance & cleaning of all equipment is a plus.
• General knowledge of all restaurant and C-store operations.
• Must have knowledge of proper safe food handling practices and VT safety standards.
• Serve Safe certification preferred.
• 2-5 years of General Manager experience preferred; 2-5 years of managerial /supervisor experience required

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Must be able to stand for up to 4 hours continuously, as well as frequent bending and overhead reaching with twisting motions. Must be able to lift 10-20# numerous times during the day and up to 50lbs several times each day, must be able to push and pull up to 70lbs frequently. Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.
