Espinoza Consulting Services (ECS) has an openings for a seasonal Range Technician to work in the Grand Junction Area. The project noxious weed technician position is full time/seasonal and connected to a multi-year contract. This position provides practical technical support related to the scientific management of noxious weed populations in rangeland environments.



Assignments include various on-the-ground weed control projects, inventories, monitoring and mapping assignments, rangeland rehabilitation projects, providing public contact, and reporting/ documentation functions.



Prepare a variety of specific weed treatment strategies and pesticide use proposals utilizing an integrated management approach that employs biological, mechanical, and chemical control methods. Implement a variety of weed management activities, plans, and proposals for the respective organization in accordance with all applicable resource management plans, environmental assessments, cooperative agreements, safety plans, etc. Initiate preventive activities to quickly and efficiently control small weed infestations and develop new methods and practices to treat specific types of infestations.



The incumbent must be able to possess a valid driver's license to operate government vehicles and equipment.



Organize, schedule, and execute work assignments; document work progress; and ensure each project is properly completed and recorded.



Independently plan and complete various projects utilizing global positioning systems and topographic maps. Make field observations of conditions. Utilize a variety of computer programs to compile, reduce, store, retrieve, and analyze data.



Substantial practical and technical knowledge of the public land management in order to plan, organize, and accomplish a wide variety of projects within the public land environments in accordance with all applicable guidelines.



Ability to drive a variety of motor vehicles such as 4x4 pickups with trailers and all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) in off-road situations and over rough uneven terrain.



Ability to use various types of computer programs to maintain and retrieve information from automated data systems, develop spreadsheets, and use word processing and statistical software programs to develop reports and content for planning documents and educational programs.
