We are currently seeking an experienced Cardio-Thoracic Physician Assistant or Nurse Practioner to join a fast paced and high volume cardiac surgery team in Albuquerque, NM. Successful candidates will have first assist, pre-op, and post-op experience. Quick and accurate vein harvest skills are also required.



Required skills & experience (the “must haves” to be considered):



- Graduation from a program for Physician Assistants

- Currently hold or ability to obtain New Mexico PA license

- 3-5 years of cardiothoracic surgery (1st assist) experience

- Must have endovascular vein harvesting (EVH) experience

Responsibilities:

• Sees post-op patients in step down unit, writes progress notes & transfers orders as needed.

• Serves as Floor PA to start patient rounds on cardiac units.

• Prepares post op patient for discharge (prescriptions, teaching, post-surgical teaching) and dictates discharge summaries.

• Responsible for seeing post op patients in office.

• Responsible for seeing pre op patients in office.

• Serves as on-call PA to check out with on-call surgeon at end of day.

• Serves as Weekend call PA to meet with on-call surgeon.

• Performs other functions as required.
