OFAC Sanctions Advisory Specialist for BNP Paribas in New York, NY, to Will manage Sanctions Advisory cases (relationships with U.S. Sanctions exposure) from end-to-end (MSCQ, Static data alerts, and Client review triggered by Financial Security Incidents). Will analyze advisory cases escalated to Group Financial Security (GFS). Will work with Local Compliance teams group-wide during the investigation to obtain relevant information and documentation necessary to reach a decision and with the GFS team in Paris in relation to a joint decision on cases. Will present his or her cases and recommendations before the Case Management Committee regrouping GFS U.S. and GFS Sanctions Advisory Teams for joint decision. Will ensure a full audit trail of investigation and decision-making in the Compliance workflow tool, EP, and GFS U.S. case management system, Actimize. Will exercise a follow-up of actions required post-decision. Will participate in ad hoc projects and GFS-managed committees as the Advisory representative. Will conduct searches in the case management tool following the receipt of government subpoenas and will analyze potential matches.

Requires: Master's degree in Finance, Financial Compliance, International Relations or related field of study (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus 3 years’ experience as an OFAC Sanctions Advisory Specialist or related occupation responsible for Financial Crime and Sanctions Compliance within an international bank or international financial services organization. Or, alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Financial Compliance, International Relations or related field of study (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) and 5 years’ experience as an OFAC Sanctions Advisory Specialist or related occupation responsible for Financial Crime and Sanctions Compliance within an international bank or international financial services organization. Or, alternatively, No degree and 7 years’ experience as an OFAC Sanctions Advisory Specialist or related occupation responsible for Financial Crime and Sanctions Compliance within an international bank or international financial services organization. Specific skills/other requirements - Demonstrated Expertise (quantitative experience requirements not applicable to this section): Demonstrated expertise (DE) conducting global customer due diligence, reviewing corporate ownership structures, developing payment messages, and complying with U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulations, policies, and best practices to screen transactional and customer data for sanctions compliance in Trade finance, Global markets, Derivative markets, Retail banking, Corporate banking, Investment management, and Private wealth management and Insurance; (DE) managing financial security investigations, inquiries planning, and prioritizing multiple cases while meeting deadlines, obtaining evidence, and gathering information for a portfolio of investigation cases and responding to various queries; (DE) synthetizing information and delivering presentations using Excel spreadsheets, graphing, tables, calculations, and automation to process large quantities of data; (DE) developing and delivering sanctions compliance trainings (to include coverage of complex transactions, regulations, and policies) to employees and stakeholders across a variety of internal business groups; and (DE) conducting risk assessment and developing compliance programs to identify, evaluate, and prioritize legal and regulatory risks that may negatively impact the organization.
