Job Summary:

The Oncology Nurse Navigator (ONN) serves as an expert clinician with advanced training and skill to manage the complex needs of patients and their families through evidence based practice. The ONN is responsible for managing care of identified patients with cancer, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, to ensure access to high quality care throughout all phases of care. The ONN serves as point of contact for cancer patients, caregivers, and physicians to provide resources and assistance with accessing clinical and supportive care services. Serves as a liaison between the different medical specialties to ensure best practice. Responsible for data collection to ensure the facility meets standards for accreditation with COC and NAPBC. The ONN is responsible for utilizing data to identify health care disparities with patient population.

Job Requirements:

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and licensed as an RN by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing. BSN strongly preferred. Oncology Nursing Certification (OCN) or Oncology Nurse Navigation Certification (ONN-CG) is preferred.

Minimum 2 years of oncology, navigation, palliative care, end of life, or hospice experience is required.

Job Knowledge:

Acquires and maintains broad knowledge of cancer-related resources and services. Knowledge of treatment options, and side effect management, preferably in gynecological and/or breast cancers. Requires strong organizational, problem solving, decision making and critical thinking skills. Excellent verbal and communication skills. Knowledge of performance improvement processes. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Able to develop collaborative relationships and work in teams and autonomously. Computer skills required. Knowledge of insurance reimbursement and financial hardship resources as well as other community resources. Knowledge of self-care strategies.

Schedule:

Part-Time; Day Shift

Monday - Friday

Pay Range:

$30.00 - $48.00
