Core Responsibilities

  • Shall have an understanding of distribution feeder processing.
  • Ensure all high and low tension switching operations are performed in compliance with operating procedures and engineering plans and specifications.
  • Supervise Field Operators and other titled subordinates in the activities of distribution feeder processes associated with locating feeder faults, positive identification of feeders, applying protection.
  • Develop an understanding of the tools utilized by Field Operators and distribution level equipment encountered in the field.
  • Will be responsible for compliance with all applicable environmental laws, DOT regulations, and company policies and procedures.
  • Will ensure the proper storage, handling, transport, and disposal of hazardous material and promptly report violations or release of hazardous materials into the environment.
  • Will be responsible for overseeing work activities are performed in a safe, efficient and reliable manner in accordance with established operating policies and procedures.
  • Embrace the Zero Harm Culture by serving as an effective safety leader in the department.
  • Provide essential feedback, both constructive and positive, in order to enhance the professional development of field operators.
  • Conduct engaging and effective presentations that will aid in the overall development of personnel.
  • Must perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of experience Working for Electric Construction, Electric Operations, or Regional Engineering or
  • Associate's Degree and 4 years of experience Working for Electric Construction, Electric Operations, or Regional Engineering or
  • High School Diploma/GED and 6 years of experience Working for Electric Construction, Electric Operations, or Regional Engineering

Relevant Work Experience

  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to effectively interact with various levels of management, union personnel, high profile customers, and city agencies. Required
  • Must have a working knowledge of General Instructions Governing Work on System Electrical Equipment and familiarity with Electric Operation and System Operations Procedures. Required
  • Must have professional experience either in Electric Operations, Regional Engineering, or System Operations Required
  • Supervisory and/or leadership experience dealing with Collective Bargaining Employees (Local 1-2) Preferred
  • Must be proficient in WMS applications. Preferred
  • Must have an understanding of the Collective Bargaining Contract when dealing with matters of work with the Local 1-2 members.
  • Must have a minimum of one year supervisory experience or demonstrate ability to effectively enforce the Collective Bargaining Contract Local 1-2.
  • Proficient in WMS applications or take initiative to quickly acquire knowledge to utilize WMS application as it pertains to the department.
  • Must have a comprehensive understanding and enforce all applicable "Rules We Live By" pertaining to Electric Operations.
  • Must be able to conduct effective and engaging presentations to various audience members.
  • Must have knowledge and understand the use of Job Situation Safety Evaluation (JSSEs).

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc.

  • Ability to work within tight timeframes and meet strict deadlines

Licenses & Certifications

  • Driver's License Required

Physical Demands

  • Must respond to system emergencies
  • Must work at field locations in all weather conditions
  • Must work in an environment that includes heat, noise, confined spaces, and high elevations
  • Must climb in and out of manholes and excavations
  • Must travel to company locations to work on storm restoration and heat contingencies
  • Must wear all necessary personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including; fire retardant clothing and safety harness
  • Must work rotating shifts, including nights, midnights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must work with equipment with manufacturer weight rating of 350 llbs.
  • Must be able to use equipment with a maximum weight rating of 375 lbs when wearing and/or carrying 25lbs of clothing and equipment.

Other Physical Demands

  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
  • Must be able to respond to company emergencies by performing System Emergency Assignments (SEA) to restore service to our customers.
  • Must be able to work shift and/or rotating schedule which includes holidays, off-shifts (night and midnights), and weekends.
  • Must be able to handle heavy equipment, with mechanical assistance periodically, weighing between 25lbs. to 300+ lbs.
  • Must be able to work steady shifts and/or periodical rotating shifts.
