M.S. Walker is adding to our operations leadership team with an Operations Supervisor role that has dual responsibility for supervising all aspects of packaging operations in our production facility, but also partial maintenance operations. Reporting to the Production Manager, this position plays an important role is ensuring staff and department performance are aligned with company goals, and requires someone who is positive, dependable, and leads by example to motivate and drive success for their teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Tracks and reports line efficiencies, operational costs, down time trends, quality issues, full good product/ raw material yields, change controls, and staffing challenges and opportunities.
  • Provides direct oversight of all daily operations including packaging and maintenance and ensures production efficiencies are at or above targets.
  • Meets the daily packaging schedule for all production lines and schedules the packaging teams for the different manufacturing lines.
  • Oversees and controls direct labor cost as packaging volumes increase or decrease.
  • Ensures accurate raw material inventory and month end inventories; verifies and provides accurate daily reports on full good inventory.
  • Ensures packaged quality control procedures are followed and continually improved.
  • PM program management for bottling, packaging, and rectification equipment.
  • Supervises complex maintenance and facilities projects to completion.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by mastering manuals, reviewing professional publications, and benchmarking current practices; strives for continual innovation and improvements
  • Holds weekly department meetings to ensure individual and team performance is aligned with company goals and celebrate team wins; writes, reviews, and trains operators and Maintenance Techs on company/ department S.O.P's.; manages training schedules, career development, performance management, corrective action, and hiring; properly trains staff on new equipment; fosters a positive work environment through constructive dialogue and effective management
  • Provides back-up to the Warehouse Manager and Production Manager in their absence, including processing payroll.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of food safety (HACCP), quality management systems, preventative maintenance programming, manufacturing lines, PLCs, VFD's, Photo Eyes, automation, basic motor controls, and industry standard beverage equipment
  • Experience with creating/maintaining industrial facilities and maintenance best practices
  • Previous experience working with CMMS and or ERP systems
  • Minimum of 1-2 years packaging experience or 3-5 year manufacturing experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Teams) and Zoom
  • Proven managerial and supervisory skills, including team building and comfort with public presentations
  • Physical Requirements include, but are not limited to:
    • Working in varied work spaces wet, cold, Hot, strong chemicals, forklift zones, indoors or outdoors as needed
    • Ability to lift up to 80lbs on occasion
    • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods which could include 8-10 hours at a time
