BASIC JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for specific administrative tasks and projects that will support various areas of Operations. The Operations Support Specialist will be responsible for assisting in managing logistics, materials, supply chain, production planning and manufacturing functions of the plant. The Operations Specialist will have ongoing communications with operations personnel at other plants, customers, suppliers, sales managers and customer service personnel.  Overall the Operations Support Specialist is the administrative hand in optimizing plant operations. 



1)    Education and Experience

a)    Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (Operations, industrial management, procurement, logistics, supply chain or similar is preferred) 

b)    Experience in a manufacturing environment and understanding of manufacturing process

c)    Computer knowledge (good understanding of ERP software and Microsoft Office software and SAP)



2)    Administrative

a)    Work with Operations Managers as the administrative hand in optimizing plant operations

b)    Communication with other plant operations personnel

c)    Communicate with Suppliers and Customers

d)    Use Chempax system (manufacturing software) to run reports, find information, enter data and update data

e)    Use customer SAP systems for data entry and retrieval

f)    Run/Create reports using various computer systems and software

g)    Various other task as required



3)    Operations/Logistics

a)    Assist in supply chain management, production planning, resource planning and scheduling

b)    Enter purchase orders and work with suppliers/customers on scheduling and confirming delivery times 

c)    Monitor inventory and assist in scheduling production and shipping

d)    Assist in quarterly physical inventory counts and reports

e)    Monitor open orders and communicate with customers and CSRs on delivery dates

f)    Coordinate with customers, suppliers, carriers and other plants to schedule pick-ups and deliveries

g)    Maintain shipping, receiving and production schedules

h)    Assist in production planning and scheduling

i)    Analyze inventories, production issues, quality data, logistics, dispatching, truck rail scheduling

j)    Assist in Quality Control activities which may include logging retains, running simple lab tests and/or data entry.



4)    Computer skills

a)    Work with various computer systems (internal and customer/supplier systems)

b)    Familiarity with business management software (SAP, Chempax, etc.) 

c)    Information management – Run reports, analyze data and manage various types of information in various formats.

d)    Print orders off of Chempax system, update data in Chempax or other computer systems
