Hours:




  • First shift 6am-2:30pm.

  • OT as needed

  • Must meet DOD/ITAR requirements for this position



Scope:




  • We seek a highly motivated, skilled & innovative individual with a passion for optics and a desire to learn.

  • The job responsibilities and skills for this position will vary and could range from fabricating optical, inspecting and/or testing optics. Individuals applying for this position must be team oriented and able to work collaboratively with others.

  • They must have a drive for continuous improvement, and they must be flexible and willing to learn new things.



Qualifications:

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:




  • Conventional polishing using pitch laps, working to tolerance 1/10 wave. Knowledge of using test plates, interferometers and optical inspection

  •  Perform manufacturing tasks and activities, as trained, and in compliance with work instructions.

  •  Complete production logistics by moving / transacting materials and information through the computer-based production system.

  •  Monitor processes; includes recording and charting data.

  •  Perform calculations, quality tests, measurements, and inspections.

  •  Clean and prepare material and parts.

  • Interface with plant systems (e.g. document control system, manufacturing execution system, optical testing software, etc.).

  • Responsible for housekeeping and autonomous maintenance of work area and equipment.



Required Skills/Experience




  • Good written and oral communication skills

  • Exceptional fine motor skills and attention to detail

  •  Strong PC skills and ability to operate electronic equipment

  •  Superior technical and diagnostic skills

  • Able to work in a team environment

  • Actively engage in continuous improvement and cost reduction programs

  •  Dedicated to the job. Willing to work off hours to ensure product is completed on schedule



Working Conditions:




  • Work environment is temperature controlled.

  • Safety glasses and safety shoes are required.

  • May have to lift or moves materials up to 5 pounds frequently.

  • Occasionally lifts or moves materials up to 15 pounds.

  • Rarely lifts or moves materials in excess of 15 pounds.


This is a contract position.


  • Location: USA - NY - Fairport

  • Duration of contract: 1 Year

  • Education/ Experience:  AS degree (or equivalent experience) in optics or other technical field is preferred
