Position: Overnight support staff
Job type: Part-time, temporary, on-site
Pay: $17 per hour
Start Date: Immediately
End Date: March 31, 2023 (with the possibility of extending, depending on winter weather.)
The WAB Warming Center seeks to hire two temporary, assertive, and compassionate staff members to support and monitor the facility and its guests overnight.
Organization Description: The WAB Warming Center provides safety, warmth, and care for individuals and families experiencing homelessness during the winter months in the Cache Valley area of Utah. The center, located at St. Johns Episcopal Church in Logan, is a seasonal emergency shelter that operates December through March, 7 nights per week. The center opens in the evening hours and closes early in the morning. The center has relied on volunteers to operate the facility each night, and now seeks to hire support staff to assist and support volunteers.
This Overnight Support Staff will be supervised by the new Executive Director to support and monitor the guests of the WAB Warming Center, and to provide a broader array of services that guests need and deserve. The Overnight Support Staff shift begins at 11:00 pm and ends at 5:00 am resulting in a 6 hour shift. A fingerprint background check is required.
Position Responsibilities: The Overnight Support Staff responsibilities will include:
- Complete WAB Warming Center online and in-person training.
- Complete Mental Health First aid training.
- Employ conflict resolution skills.
- Learn and utilize WAB WC forms and documents.
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- 18 years of age or older
- Comfortable working with vulnerable individuals and families experiencing crisis situations like homelessness
- Proficiency in oral and written communications
- Assertive communication skills
- Proficiency in the use of Slack and Google Workspace solutions: Docs, Gmail, Forms.
- Aptitude for independent learning of new software
- Ability to work both independently and in a team setting
- Willingness and ability to respond to evolving circumstances
- Willingness to support vulnerable populations with empathy
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience with supporting vulnerable populations
