Job Description and Duties

Positions at the Water Boards may be eligible for telework with in-person attendance based on the operational needs of the position.

This position is entitled to a $2400 pay differential per year, payable after 12 months in the position, based on Bargaining Unit.

The State Water Resources Control Boards Division of Administrative Services has an opening for a Personnel Specialist in the Human Resources Branch. The position is located at 1001 I Street, 18th Floor, in downtown Sacramento, next to light rail stations, other public transportation, and more.

The Personnel Specialist is responsible for performing the full range of personnel functions related to payroll, time and attendance reporting, appointments, and separations. The incumbent independently processes various complex and sensitive personnel transactions accurately and in compliance with applicable bargaining unit contracts, departmental policies and procedures, and California Department of Human Resources (CalHR), California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), State Personnel Board (SPB), and State Controllers Office (SCO) laws and rules while meeting deadlines, management expectations, and providing courteous and timely customer service.

Salary information CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.

An applicant with a college degree obtained outside the United States that does meet accreditation standards must have education records evaluated by a credentials evaluation service.
