Thompson Child & Family Focus, located in the Charlotte/Matthews area, has an opening for the Director position in the Psychiatric Residential Treatment Program (PRTF). This position will oversee the daily operations of the residential attachment program, cottage activities and care of youths, as well as, coaching the supervisors and giving direction to the overall residential milieu. This position shall assist in coordination of care, staffing patterns, on-call coverage, budgets, and environments that support the treatment philosophy. Duties include supervising PRTF Program Supervisors and Education Manager, as well as working as part of PRTF leadership team to provide the best care possible for the children and families in the program.

 



This program provides 24-hour direct care to youths ages 6 – 17 in the residential treatment program by providing a safe therapeutic home setting in a positive, consistent and structured environment. This includes mental health support and documentation based on service goals and plans for each youth. Significant events and behavior shall be documented and communicated in daily process notes. This position supervises the staff that plans, provides and supervises the daily activities of the youths in the program to build self-esteem and appropriate peer interaction for each youth. This position is responsible for building a safe and positive relationship with each youth using basic principles of reality therapy without punitive approaches while providing engaging, nurturing structure. This individual must have the ability to appropriately intervene to meet the needs of the youth and their family members gain the skills and confidence to address issues and problems as they take place. For consideration, applicants must be 23 years of age to work in this program. This position is also responsible for coaching Supervisors in doing the same thing.

 



This position will:




  • Works in conjunction with the Medical Director and Vice President of Residential Services in the development, improvement, and implementation of best practices and appropriate treatment models.

  • Assures program is meeting and sustaining accreditation standards, DPI standards and mental health/Medicaid guidelines.

  • Assists with developing and monitoring evaluation process for Treatment Services program including outcome data and tools and CQI process as it relates to residential services.

  • Oversees residential program’s routines to ensure best practices and adherence to relationship-based philosophy.

  • Help manage the personnel, training and Human Resource needs of the residential program staff.

  • Monitor to ensure that all required cottage, clinical, and educational paperwork is completed within appropriate timeframes.

  • Support on-call responsibilities to fill in for Program Supervisors and/or other direct reports when needed.

  • Assist in coordination of training and development with support from the Medical Director and training.

  • Assists with the development of fiscally sound budgets and ensures that monthly expenditures stay within the allocated budgeted dollars.

  • Identifies areas in need of quality improvement and works with or guides appropriate TCFF staff to continuously develop and improve programming and services.

  • Ensures all scorecard measures that have been set are met and a plan to address is put in place and followed through on if needed.

  • Coordinates the use of volunteers within the residential program.



Physical Requirements: Will frequently perform a wide variety of physical tasks such as standing, walking, running, stooping, bending, climbing stairs, which requires strength, coordination, endurance, and agility. Staff must be agile enough to control and rapidly extricate him/herself and youths from buildings in case of an emergency. Persons with any medical problems such as joint problems, obesity, arthritis or cardiopulmonary conditions, where it would be unwise or not possible to engage in moderate physical exertion should not be considered. This program does require staff to be able to maintain sufficient physical agility and stamina to intervene with uncooperative youths and must be able to exert the minimum necessary strength to restrain and subdue the youth if necessary. Staff must be capable of running a distance as required in the prevention of a youth absconding.

 



Master’s Degree in Human Services or related field with a minimum of four years of supervisory experience and six years of experience working with youths in a residential or mental health program. Being a Fully Licensed Clinician is strongly preferred. Additionally, candidates must have the ability to work any shift and weekends. Only Qualified Professionals will be considered. Must have the ability to respond effectively within and cope with an environment that can be extremely stressful on the mind and body. Position requires driving agency vehicles as well as transporting clients.

 



A valid driver’s license in the state of permanent residence, at least three years of driving with a driver’s license and clean driving record are required. All potential job candidates must pass a drug screening test, Diana Screening and an extensive background check.
