Job Title: Patient Access Technician



Department: Patient Access



Site: Brooks Memorial Hospital



Status: Full Time

Job Summary:



 




  • Patient Access Technician provides the necessary level of service to improve revenue cycle where it starts in order to achieve increased revenue and enhance customer satisfaction. Responsibilities for providing exemplary customer service around the Hospital’s ICARE values encompass ER/Admissions/Switchboard Patient Registration including, but not limited to; greeting patients/customers, collecting personal, medical and financial data from the patient or family, reviewing scripts for completion and following up with physician’s offices to obtain valid script, starting the record that will accompany the patient through the medical system, directing patients to waiting areas or destination and calculating daily manual census. Patient Access Technician actively participates in exemplary customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Patient Access Technician handles walk in lab specimens following established protocol as necessary.



 



Cross Training to all areas in registration and flexible work schedule is required.



 



Technical/Behavioral



Competencies:



Service excellence; Collection of co-pays; data entry/computer entries; safety/environment of care (paging of codes and alarms); patient access quality improvement; service excellence; pre OP screening; compliance/regulatory; proficiency in calculating a daily manual census



 



Education /Licensure/Certification




  • Required: High School graduate or equivalent.



Preferred: Associates Degree in a health care related field.



Experience:




  • : 1-2 years in a Medical office setting; Customer Service Skills; Typing and data entry.



Preferred: 2-5 years experience in Patient Financial services; Bilingual experience; Experience in collections; Experience in Computer applications: Meditech, PICIS
