About the Job

We are currently seeking a Human Resources & Payroll Manager to join our growing construction team. This role will be responsible for processing payroll information and all human resource functions. We are looking for someone with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail who is also friendly and welcoming to other team members.

This is a unique position that will be critical to our growth as we are looking to automate the payroll and human resources functions that have been done manually for years. Someone who can learn the current process with a vision and ability for automating and streamlining workflows so we are poised for fast growth is ideal.

Responsibilities:

  • Print collect and reconcile timesheets
  • Work with managers and field employees to reconcile time sheets and process payroll weekly as well as bonuses and off-cycle checks when necessary
  • Process checks and prepare for distribution to employees
  • Process and maintain wage garnishments and child support
  • Prepare weekly, quarterly, and annual tax payments and reports (940 deposits, Unemployment reporting, 941 returns, annual 940 FUTA, 1094 & 1095 ACA form tax returns, and W2 forms)
  • Manage track benefits for new and existing employees (Health / Life / dental ins, 401k, vacation time) and process deductions accurately for payroll and also post to appropriate vendor platforms
  • Manage and maintain PBIA or other Badging requirements for new and existing employees that are applicable to jobs
  • Onboard new employees (prepare new hire packages, meet and explain company policies and requirements, process all necessary paperwork required for employment)
  • Process terminations (prepare final checks, follow up on outstanding items, and process paperwork or unemployment claims)
  • Assist new and existing employees with HR-related matters
  • Maintain and update directories, voicemails, extensions, and holiday information
  • Assist during 401k audit
  • Upload 401k weekly deferrals
  • Manage human resource policies and hiring processes
  • Manage employee handbooks and compliance requirements
  • Serve as the point of contact to resolve HR and payroll-related issues with managers and employees
  • Identify opportunities to automate payroll and HR processes
  • Advise on in-house vs. outsourced payroll strategy
  • Any other HR or payroll-related duties as necessary
  • Experience processing both internal payroll (from time entry to the printing of paychecks) and also using an outsource payroll platform.
  • Extremely organized with a high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to look at current manual processes and automate where necessary
  • Experience with Bamboo HR or other automated HR and Payroll tools
  • Experience with administration of any time & attendance systems
  • Experience with outsourced payroll services that integrate with accounting packages
  • Able to work independently identifying issues and formulating options for resolution

Qualifications:

  • Basic office skills and abilities, knowledge of standard office equipment and software including Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat, and ability and willingness to learn new and/or proprietary applications as required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments under high pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to work overtime if needed
  • Understanding details of full payroll processes
  • Min 4 years of HR and Payroll experience with benefits administration required
  • Prevailing wage, Davis Bacon, and certified payroll experience would be a plus, but not required
  • Relevant Bachelors degree or SHRM certification preferred
