People Partner (Senior HR Business Partner)



What can you expect?


An exciting opportunity has become available for a People Partner to join Marsh McLennan in New Zealand. In this role you will provide forward-looking strategic HR planning, counsel and delivery for all Marsh McLennan business segments across New Zealand, Fiji and Papua New Guinea.The role aligns HR initiatives with strategic business goals to ensure superior organisational performance.

People Partners are the trusted advisor to the businesses and P&L owners for all strategic people related topics and are responsible for driving, shaping, and leading the agenda for the People function, aligned with business strategy. Reporting to the Chief People Officer Pacific, the People Partner will align with a small group of Marsh McLennan Executives and engage proactively with other colleagues in a matrix environment to ensure that there is a shared understanding of business needs and priorities.

To be successful in this role, you will be an established HR Business Partner with a desire to work in an organisation with a big agenda. With the majority of the people function based elsewhere, both Australia and globally, you will need to be able to work well in a virtual and matrix team environment to get things done.

We will count on you to:


Immerse yourself into the business operations, staying abreast of business and workforce challenges, human capital needs, and people-related gaps to deliver on our growth ambition

Work with business leaders to understand current and future workforce needs, diagnose succession needs and risks

Proactively engage with HR Managers to establish a strong partnership enabling smooth implementation of programs and solutions

Work with leaders and other People Partners on organisational effectiveness issues and initiatives within their businesses and for Marsh McLennan Pacific

Champion enterprise culture within business-specific environments and collaboratively build towards the changing face of work


What you need to have:


10+ years as a HR practitioner with 5+ years operating at a senior level and exposure to strategic planning aspects of business partnering. Experience ideally drawn from the Professional Services or Financial Services industries

Experienced in developing strategic plans to address talent/people related challenges or goals

Demonstrated ability coaching and advising business leaders at the most senior level, with the ability to challenge when necessary and promote an alternate perspective to enable robust evaluation of issues and options

Understand the nature of the business within scope and the people issues and challenges that will require attention

Demonstrated experience in using metrics and technology to help senior business leaders make sound decisions

Knowledge and experience of operating in the relevant business and country regulatory/statutory environments and markets

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, both working 1:1 with business leaders and with groups of business leaders

Enthusiasm for keeping abreast of HR and industry market trends and ready to share knowledge with colleagues and the business
