Almond Huller/ Sheller Plant Foreman/Mechanic

Job Description:

 

This is a full-time position with 40 or more hours a week with overtime possible during the almond harvest season. During the almond harvest the Plant Foreman will be responsible for overseeing the hulling and/or shelling of field almonds with special attention to the detail and quality of the finished product. The Plant Foreman should be proficient in all aspects of plant operations, plant maintenance and repairs, and interact well with the general public and other employees. This position requires supervision of both full time and seasonal employees. The Plant Foreman must perform at a high level to meet the company’s goals and objectives to produce a quality product. During the non-harvest season the Plant Foreman will be expected to perform machine maintenance and other duties as assigned by management. Employees must stay focused on completing maintenance goals established by management. There can be heavy lifting required of this position of up to 75 pounds. There also can be long periods of work time on your feet, times when the candidate is required to bend over, or crawl under equipment, and work in an outside environment that can range from hot and dusty, to cold weather. There are multiple stairs to climb throughout the day in and around the plants and employees could be performing maintenance work at heights of just over 75’.

Technical Knowledge:

• Plant Foreman should have good knowledge about all phases of the operations and should be able to lead employees effectively through positive leadership. Plant Foreman work closely with line employees and management staff and be able to communicate effectively with both oral and written communications. Bilingual in Spanish is a bonus, but is not required. Good and effective math skills are important to this position as well. Plant Foreman should be very proficient with the employee handbook, and be able to coach, council, and when necessary discipline subordinate employees.
