Position Summary:
The plumber's helper provides support to licensed plumbers in various tasks related to plumbing installations, repairs, and maintenance. This position requires a willingness to learn, physical stamina, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. The plumber's helper assists with the setup of equipment, tools, and materials, as well as the cleanup and organization of work areas.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assist licensed plumbers in the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing systems, fixtures, and appliances.
2. Carry tools, equipment, and materials to and from job sites, ensuring they are properly organized and readily accessible.
3. Help with the setup and breakdown of job sites, including assembling and disassembling plumbing equipment and scaffolding.
4. Dig trenches and prepare work areas for plumbing installations and repairs.
5. Assist in measuring, cutting, and fitting pipes, valves, and fittings according to specifications.
6. Retrieve and deliver tools, parts, and supplies as needed during plumbing projects.
7. Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and work areas to ensure safety and efficiency.
8. Dispose of debris and waste materials in accordance with company policies and regulations.
9. Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
10. Learn and adhere to plumbing codes, regulations, and industry standards.
11. Observe and learn from experienced plumbers to enhance knowledge and skills.
12. Communicate effectively with team members, providing assistance and support as required.
Requirements
Qualifications and Skills:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Previous experience or training in plumbing or a related field is a plus.
3. Physical fitness and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting heavy objects and working in tight spaces.
4. Basic knowledge of plumbing tools, equipment, and materials.
5. Strong work ethic and a willingness to learn from experienced plumbers.
6. Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
7. Attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently and safely.
8. Reliable and punctual, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
9. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record (if required for transportation to job sites).
10. Willingness to comply with company policies, safety guidelines, and industry regulations.
