Salary $60,000-$70,000 + benefits

Full-Time hybrid position, travel is expected to Hartford and across the state to engage coalition members and other stakeholders in person, as needed. In person travel will increase during the Connecticut Legislative Session.

CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES

Position requires a self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail; demonstrated, effective written and oral communication skills; and the ability to meet critical deadlines, interact with people at various organizational levels, and work well with others to maximize available resources. A background in grassroots advocacy or campaigns is preferred. Strong project management skills with the ability to meet multiple deadlines in a fastpaced work environment.

Child Care for Connecticuts Future (CCfCT) is a powerful and visible movement of parents, providers, advocates, philanthropy, businesses, unions and more, joining together to advocate for the equitable child care system our state needs. CCfCT envisions a high-quality, affordable child care and wrap-around support system, available to every family needing it, in the setting they choose, provided by well-trained and properly compensated educators. CCfCTs Mission is to build sustained public support through advocacy and education in order to achieve our transformative vision of an equitable system that supports the whole family. CCfCTs Goals are, by 2027: 1) Build an equitable, high-quality system, affordable for parents with a dedicated funding source. 2) No parent pays more than 7% of their income, and parents earning less than $100,000 pay $0. 3) Programs are funded for the true cost of services, compensate staff comparably to public schools and provide children with high-quality learning experiences and wrap-around services.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The duties are the following but not limited to:

  • Analyze and summarize policy at the federal, state, and local level
  • Analyze and summarize state legislative proposals of interest and relevance to the organization
  • Advise organizational leadership on policy trends, critical issue areas and recommended actions
  • Assist with the drafting of legislative bills, press releases, campaign materials, policy reports, research summaries, coalition materials including toolkits, and internal stakeholder communications
  • Build and maintain relationships in the advocacy community
  • Engage in advocacy, including lobbying, to advance the organizations policy agenda.
  • Coordinate and attend meetings with member organizations; parents, child care providers and other stakeholders; working committees; Board members; and legislators.
  • Copy edit, proofread, and submit all final letters, public comments, and other communications
  • Coordinate and assist CCFCT teams in preparation for major events, meetings, public comments, conferences and/or actions
  • Other duties as assigned and relevant to the policy and advocacy goals of the organization
  • Catalogue public testimony
  • Supervise and oversee the organization's internship program

REQUIREMENTS

License: Drivers License

Minimum Qualifications are as follows:

A. Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associates or higher level degree in Political Science, Policy, Public Administration, or a related field;

OR

B. Five (5) years of full-time paid, or its part-time equivalent, policy or campaign work experience;

OR

C. An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of A and B above.

Skills: Policy analysis/policy communications; skilled at creating, summarizing, and

presenting information in a concise and clear manner for multiple audiences;

strong problem solving; strong research skills; interpersonal, computer, verbal and

written communication skills; time management; excellent organizational skills

mandatory.

Other: Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Internet Applications; Social Media platforms, graphic design tools (canva)
