Samsung SDS America is seeking a highly motivated Tech Lead to join Cloud Native Computing Team in the development of cloud native solutions and technologies. This role will be leading a networking project.

Our new software defined networking projects will allow our Cloud operators to manage and control network behavior through software, rather than through traditional hardware devices while improving the scalability, performance and reliability of our Cloud infrastructure. Software Defined Networking can be used in various areas:

  • Data Center Networking: to enable network virtualization, automation, and orchestration, making it easier to manage and scale large data centers.
  • Wide Area Networks: to create programmable WANs that allow for dynamic routing and traffic engineering, enabling network operators to optimize network performance and reduce costs.
  • Cloud Computing: to enable networking automation and orchestration in cloud environments, enabling cloud providers to offer flexible and scalable services to their customers.
  • Network Security: to enhance network security by enabling dynamic network segmentation, traffic monitoring, and threat detection and response.

Responsibilities:

  • As part of Cloud Native Computing Team, youll be leading networking project for cloud native infrastructure
  • Plan and design the structure of a technology solution
  • Communicate system requirements to software development teams
  • Evaluate and select appropriate software or hardware and suggest integration methods
  • Oversee assigned programs (e.g. conduct code review) and provide guidance to team members
  • Assist with solving technical problems when they arise
  • Ensure the implementation of agreed architecture and infrastructure
  • Address technical concerns, ideas and suggestions
  • Monitor systems to ensure they meet both user needs and business goals
  • Respond to technical issues in a professional and timely manner
  • Interact with customers, users, and engineers to resolve problems and define new features
  • Work with the team to facilitate the technical delivery and build the high-performing culture

Requirements

  • Masters Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent years of experience
  • 12+ years of experience in software development
  • 3+ years of experience with OpenStack
  • Experience to develop, maintain, integrate, and improve new cloud network architecture
  • Programming experience in at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or Golang
  • Kubernetes experience along with Microservices and Cloud Native design patterns
  • Experience and interest in programming and configuration of OpenStack
  • Deep understanding of cloud computing, virtualization, and networking, as well as a strong command of programming languages like Python and/ or Bash
  • Extensive experience in object- design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis and experience in Linux-based systems
  • Experience contributing to an open-source project
  • Practical experience building systems on a public cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, etc.)
  • System integration and distributed system debugging
  • Ability to be productive in a globally distributed team through self-discipline and self-motivation, delivering according to a schedule, and to motivate and mentor others to do the same

The pay range for this role in Washington State at the start of employment is expected to be between $220,000 and $280,000 per year.

Individual base pay offered is based on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.

Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including annual bonus. U.S.-based employees have access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, and wellbeing benefits, among others. U.S.-based employees also receive, per calendar year, up to 10 scheduled paid holidays, and Paid Time Off.
