Our client, a leading R&D firm dedicated to solving problems for a safer world, is seeking a Principal SATCOM Engineer(link removed) The successful candidate will possess strong leadership and highly technical expertise in the area of satellite communications (SATCOM) to help lead the strategic development and research efforts for the company's national SATCOM work program. This position is located in the Greater Boston area and our client is offering relocation assistance for this role.

Position Description:

In this role you will have the prospect of working with government sponsors and the broader SATCOM community to define and execute a corporate technical work program that supports key development and engineering decisions in support of the company's sponsor missions. The Principal SATCOM Engineer will work with sponsors to shape project direction as well as be an effective leader for project teams and lead and execute an analytical work program. This position provides the candidate great opportunities for continued professional growth.

Key Qualifications:

Candidate must possess, or have the ability to obtain, an active DoD Secret clearance and have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance

BS in Engineering, Mathematics or Physics

10 years related experience, including 2 years of leadership experience

Thorough knowledge of RF communications theory, including modulations, link budgets, error correction coding, channel effects, communications protocols, etc.

An understanding of satellite systems operations, including orbital dynamics and typical payload processing

Some understanding or experience with military and/or commercial satellite systems

Ability to effectively lead small teams in analysis and technical development for SATCOM projects and mentor junior staff

Ability to interact with sponsors, including helping to set the project direction, briefing results, and developing and presenting analytically-based conclusions and recommendations

Strong analytical skills, solid mathematical foundation, and familiarity with modeling and simulation tools such as Matlab and STK

Excellent verbal communication and writing skills

Highly Desired Additional Technical Qualifications:

Experience with:
- Electromagnetic propagation
- Antenna design
- Digital signal processing, detection and estimation theory, information theory
- Anti-jam (AJ) and Low Probability of Intercept/Detection (LPI/LPD) techniques
- Systems engineering for satellite systems
- SATCOM testing and evaluation
